Sonja is... Sonja. She and Rodney are great friends because she barely even noticed how mad everyone was at Rodney -- nor did she care. She brushed off the whole mess with a wave of her hand and a change of topic. She stood by Rodney not out of loyalty but out of her teflon-coating of self-absorption. But that's what Rodney needed.
