I think the extreme temp changes are probably very unhealthy.
Seattle is the sort of place where the summer heat isn't as much of a presence as the Fall/Winter/Spring grey rain. So north-facing is a prescription for depression for the rest of the year. But I think I'd like to stay away from brick buildings, and I wouldn't say no to eastern exposure either.
