Primer To The Dark Arts

On April 14th, on year ago, I posted the last chapter of Primer To The Dark Arts on Fiction Alley.

Today, the 5000th person read it.

Numbers aren't everything, and those even numbers with all the zeros mean nothing more than the other numbers. But this does feel like a landmark.

Wow, that's amazing. You're amazing. *snogs*

Thank you. And in celebration, pick a fic of your own -- or if you don't write fic, one that you like -- and post a link to it here.

Whee. Here's one I wrote for Lizard a while ago.

Congratulations! I have a particular fondness for "Primer to the Dark Arts", it being one of the first slash stories I read and really, really loved, and I'm glad to hear so many others have read (and undoubtedly enjoyed) it as well.

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2004-03-22 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much. Primer was the second Harry Potter I'd ever written (right behind An Irresistible Photo (http://www.riddikulus.org/authorLinks/Icarus)) and has a special place in my heart, too. Can you believe it was going to be my last piece of fanfiction?

In celebration (if you want) post a link to one of your stories here! :D

Congratulations Icarus! I love a good long Snarry (even with side servings of other pairings) and Primer is one of those classics!

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2004-03-22 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Classic? *beams*

I love a good long Snarry..

And to think it was originally intended to be Harry/Ron. ;)

In celebration (if you like), post a link to one of your stories here. :D

I grinned from ear to ear when I read this late last night. Yep. That's my baby. I still have the sequel Snape Manor in the works, but I've had to rewrite the plot to account for OotP.

In celebration, if you like, post a link to one of your fics here! :D

WooHoo!

And thirteen of them reviewed it, too!

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2004-03-21 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahem. A few more than thirteen. Fiction Alley's very good about reviewing.

W00t! I'm lazy and bad at promoting my own fics lol, but since you asked, why not?

Ahem... if you can stomach really depressing H/D, then feel free to read! It's pretty damn long though, but here it is! Speak Like A Child (http://www.livejournal.com/community/bottom_draco/46279.html).

Numbers aren't everything, or even the most important thing, but that doesn't mean they are insignificant. Or that it is any way petty for you to be proud.

Congratulations.

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2004-03-22 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. *blushes* It just... pleases me that so many people have read it, and my mind always add the colophon "and that doesn't include the people who read it on Walking The Plank, and the people who read it on ff.net, and the people who read the NC-17 verion on RS.org...."

*beams*

In celebration, if you like, post a link to one of your fics here. :D

Thanks. *looks at measly handful of completed fics*

Er, WIP okay?

[identity profile] merrycontrary.livejournal.com 2004-03-22 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Then I'll link Consort You 'till Bed-Time (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=merrycontrary&keyword=Consort+You+%27till+Bed-Time&filter=all).

It's my HP!Comedy of Errors. Written as a play. It may not be the best thing I've written, but it's the most fun to work on.

[identity profile] christabell.livejournal.com 2004-03-21 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
That's certainly something to be proud of...

I know I would be... Congrats!

In a world inundated with words, words, words and an excess of options, having 5,000 people seek out and read your work is an impressive achievement. Congratulations times ten.

[identity profile] ptyx.livejournal.com 2004-03-22 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Congratulations! I like very much "Primer to the Dark Arts".

[identity profile] arkiewriter.livejournal.com 2004-03-22 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
congrats on the milestone!

Primer was the first HP fanfic I ever really got past the third paragraph in. I've never read the books (although I do now co-own #1 with the kids and we are reading it together). I now blame you for the fact that I have a folder in my IE favorites labeled "fanfic" that is sorted by slash pairings. All your fault, I tell you. ;)

Seriously, that's great that so many people have enjoyed your work. May it continue on all fronts, fanfic and otherwise, for decades.

Yay, you!

[identity profile] raveninthewind.livejournal.com 2004-03-22 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
w00t!!

That's a milestone, that is.

Woo hoo! Congrats on your fandom anniversary!
