(no subject)

Hot, miserable and irritable.

It's 97 degrees in our apartment. It's about 75 degrees outside, but it's a brick building, we're on the top floor and heat rises.

I hate this. Hate this. Hate this. They say that frogs are cooked live. I think I know how they feel.

[livejournal.com profile] wildernessguru and I have been snapping at each other for no reason, both fans are going full bore and I haven't been able to get any writing done today at all. Tongue feels like cardboard. No. No air conditioning.

Actually, that's an urban legend. Frogs do have the sense to get out of the water before it gets too hot.

You, on the other hand...

(I'm glad I live underground).

You, on the other hand...

LOL! This cracked me up. And it's quite true, too.

Here's a little trick I used to use in college and lived in a top-floor, un-A/C'ed apartment. Take an empty two-liter bottle and fill it with water, then let it freeze overnight. Then put the frozen bottle in front of your fan. It blows cold-ish air over you until it melts. Might help a little bit, anyway.

Gina, ask me for a drabble, any drabble. Name your pairing. This idea has increased our quality of life in this apartment (though thank goodness it was cloudy this morning).

Oh, I'm so glad it helped! I so hate being hot and miserable, so I emphathize.

Um... I seem to be on a Harry/twins kick at the moment, if you're up for it. :-)

I have a suggestion: get an ice cube and rub it up and down your arms, down the back of your neck, or wherever else you feel like it. It works!

Or she could have W-Guru do it.
*looks innocent*

*ROFL*

I snuck up on a friend, intending to scare them. Instead, she just said "Ooooh, that feels good."

Wilderness Guru says "Me first!"

It's hot where I am, too, and that's clean across the country from ya.

HeadBoy and I snarked at each other all weekend; boyz drove us nutz. I've felt like I got lead in my butt.

Flee to a movie theatre for a break. The frozen bottle idea is a good one since your apt is small.

That's a good idea. I have a movie in mind, too: Spiderman II (it looks good, doesn't it?)

Yup, it does. But it doesn't come out until 30 June. What will you do until then?

We caved tonight; turned on the A/C. The house was beginning to smell of mildew so we'll spend mega bucks to keep the little flowering spores at bay.

We've put frozen water bottles in front of the fan. :D

It works surprisingly well.
