You know, I have to confess, I was glad when you started writing Stargate stuff.
I can't tell you how glad I am to hear that, because I get a lot less feedback on SG-1 stories than Harry Potter of course. HP I've been writing for two years. The SG-1 fandom doesn't know me from Adam. Then, there's the relative size of the fandom, plus the fact that SG-1 slash was sort of staggered by the loss of Daniel Jackson for a season, well, anyway. :) I'm glad people are interested. It's been driving me crazy that I haven't been able to dedicate the time to finishing the larger SG-1 stories that keep nattering at me.
Because, quite frankly, I don't watch the show, and I can only remember, vaguely, someone I knew really, really liking a SG movie. So much so that, a number of years ago, we watched it so many times I had lines of dialogue memorized. (I think it was the one involving Egypt and Ra and I would groan every time it came on, I'd seen it so often.)
I was hooked on James Spader's ultra-innocent yet ballsy Daniel Jackson myself, and was very pleased to discover that the show could live up to the movie (though it was very different).
However, I'm really, really enjoying the stories.
Cool!
Because I like Jack, and I really like Daniel, and I think, number one, you writing in this fandom is fantastic, and number two, you reccing this fandom is fantastic...
WG gave me shit about it, because this is the first fandom that he cares about that I'm writing.
He likes slash, but is pro-military (in a strong protect the weak/the best defense is a good offense sort of way) and believes the military is right with its no franternization rules. He does not distinguish between Don't Ask, Don't Tell and non-fraternization, feels it's the same essential principle: "you don't shit where you eat." He says "of course there are queers in the military! Fuck yeah, always has been. But fucking someone on the team? Sam or Daniel? No way, nuh-uh, it would really mess things up. Jack wouldn't be that stupid."
That said, he thinks Jack/Daniel PWPs are hot. But if I'm going to do serious plotty SG-1 fics, he insists that I read up on fraternization and the havoc it causes.
because hey, who doesn't need more of Jack and Daniel?
Oh yeah. No doubt about that.
So, this is just to say I appreciate it, and keep up the good work.
Thank you.
Wow am I ever lucky. No one gets this sort of support when launching into a new fandom. *thumbs up*
