Germany's Spiegel Online* has an article about the furor and ponderosa's artwork and they've included a copy of the picture. If you don't read German (I only understand every 10th word) you can run it through Babelfish for a rough translation.

A group of German fans were talking about this in a friend's lj. The pics are v. small, though, allegedly protecting Spiegel Online from both copyright troubles and pornography claims.

And Spiegel Online is not a blog -- it's the news site of the major German poli-social magazine.

There was a translation of Der Spiegel's article posted here (http://maeglinyedi.livejournal.com/303302.html?thread=5273286#t527). Also, Der Spiegel isn't a blog -- it's Germany's equivalent of Time or The Atlantic Monthly. For them to have coverage about this, even on their website, is a big deal.

How is this different from paintings that depict Apollo and Hyacinthus? In some Hyacinthus apprears to be a young man, but in others he is very much a boy. Oh, wait... they aren't exactly this erotic.

If they're removing it because it's 'Harry Potter franchise', fine. If they're removing it because it depicts a minor, I'm not buying it.
