FOX creating new episodes without the writers.

I don't give a flip about Family Guy, I've never even watched the show. But Fox is producing fresh episodes of its animated comedy Family Guy without theparticipation of its striking creator Seth MacFarlane, who does many of the main voices.

HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?!

You know, Fox is really racing to cement itself as the most fucked up, asinine, flat out ridiculous network out there. Their practices make no sense and destroy any chance they might have of surviving on more than American Idol. I count my stars they allowed House and Bones to show pretty much unimpeded.

My kids watch this. As K1 has already discontinued watching Robot Chicken via the website (cos it airs at stupid o'clock in the morning) once I explained about the whole "networks calling it promotion and therefore not paying the writers" thing, I think he will also stop watching this. He may actually write a letter.

Ethical concerns aside [cough] I could see them doing this, logistically, with the last couple of episodes in the pipeline -- if they had a couple that only needed a bit of final editing and clean-up or whatever. But if they have episodes that need further writing or voice recording or both, this could turn into a major trainwreck for them, even with fans who don't care about the strike. People will notice if they mess with the voices; they're very distinctive.
