Beta? McShep Match story?

Crusing for Betas

Last week I was tapped to pinch-hit for mcshep_match. I have the story sketched out in very rough form (i.e., dialogue with minimal description typed in chat). I should have it ready for beta tomorrow. Hopefully. At this point it looks like it will be 10 to 20k words once I've fleshed it out.

Of course it's due, um, Saturday aha! Sunday.

Yes, yes, this Saturday Sunday, as in two-days-from-now three whole-days-from-now Sunday as in one-day-to-do-the-beta two-luxurious-days-to-do-the-beta Saturday Sunday. (Stop scowling at me, it's a pinch-hit and I wrote it during finals.)

Is anyone up for a pre-scheduled, fast-turnaround beta Friday or early Saturday? I don't have it ready now, but tomorrow, yes.

I suspect you haven't quite had time to get attached yet. Though, I am shouting abuse at my fic because it's rebelling so that might be a good thing!

I'm now visualizing you rubbing your hands together like a classic B-movie villain saying, "Sure I'll 'help' you with your story... first, you need to move away from a traditional plot structure. In fact, I recommend no plot at all. You know James Joyce? Something like that. Then, remove alllllll the sex. Nobody wants that...."

I just re-read this. Do people get attached to their teams? I fear I'm mostly thinking of the readership that the mcshep_match draws. *sheepish grin* It's one way to keep myself writing and my hat in the ring while I work on Out Of Bounds.

I can get attached to anything. Seriously, most items that I own have a gender, and some of them have names (I have a kitchen timer called Boris. I don't know why he's called Boris, but that's his name. He's round and solid and potentially unreliable). Mind you, it was pretty much a toss-up originally which team I went for, but now I've picked one I'd like it to win!

The readership was a plus for me too. I don't write much in SGA and I don't promote much/at all so it'd be nice to write something that more than one person read!

I'm doing a pinch-hit given to me one week before the deadline (I was open to either team), so I'm just happy to finish a story, any story, before Sunday. :D
