Last day to write.

Last day for writing Out Of Bounds, and then school begins tomorrow. I got a lot less done than I planned. Progress on Out Of Bounds, though I'm stuck on the breakthrough scene still. Didn't get the 2007 Flavor of the Year essay done. *sigh*

Note to self: when writing, turn off email, turn off all internet access if you have to unplug it from the wall.

Now to push ahead on more competition stuff, and more Radek.

I just wish I felt more... creative... today.

*puts on music to see if that helps*

ETA: Dang. Just caught myself checking the f-list. *swats with ruler*

Go back to work! :)

I need an insulting nickname for an aging skater. *g*

I like the Mr. Bojangels idea. It works. Even if you leave the skater over weight, people know the songs character to be pathetic and a has-been. While that character isn't compeletly unsympathetic, the image is still a good one. Someone still shuffling along, trying to earn a few pennies doing what he used to be so good at long after the luster had worn away.

Okay. First draft sent.

What about Mr. Bojangles (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7r3lonOn0ko)?

What do you think? I can change the character to not be overweight but just... history. A late great who's done.

Ahem,.

You best not be reading this until after you are done missy. *taps foot*

What's more appropriate to tell some returning to school? Good luck or Have fun? Or Fun Luck? Either way...do that...when you go back to school.

*Looks shifty and skulks away.*

I'm looking for an insulting Rodney-esque nickname for an aging skater....

I'm really enjoying Out of Bounds so far, it's very hard to write good skater!fic. I've seen it done quite badly before but so far your's is lovely. I'm excited to see what you write for it next. How long do you thing your hiatus will be? I really hope you decide to get to the 2007 Flavor of the Year essay because that would make my world. I totally understand how its a) a mildly daunting project and b) hard to fit in time wise but it'd be brilliant if somehow you could. ^^

I have total empathy for the bad skater!fics because what makes writing skate!fic so hard is the very reason why I'm struggling with the breakthrough scene: action is hard to pull off in fiction, and skating includes a lot of action, especially actions and moves people aren't familiar with, so your description has to be careful without being burdensome. Another thing that's difficult to write is music, which is vitally important to skating. And then you can't just describe the music, but write with its emotional pull, and combine that with the actions.

It's hard.

I backburnered the 2007 Flavor of the Year essay when I realized I was running out of vacation time. *g* But if I can make some serious progress on the fic I'll feel better about taking time out for the Flavor.

Well, you're doing an exceptional job with the skate stuff then because it works wonderfully.

Good Luck! I'll be eagerly awaiting whatever it is you do.

The thing that always, always trips me when writing is that I use an online dictionary. I tried going without, but both looking stuff up in a "real" dictionary and putting in placeholders with the German words throws me out of the writing flow, since the, uh, emotional tone? of the German words and their English equivalents isn't always the same.

Okay, and yeah, watch me make no sense at all. *rolls eyes at self*

I wish I were doing practical things like that. *g*

I am being good today. Good progress. Er. 2am now. I'd better get some sleep before school tomorrow.
