The Last of the Mohicans

Ha!

I almost had John skate to The Last of the Mohicans for his long program this year, but opted against it (though I still like it very, very much and wavered on occasion. It's a very John piece of music).

Just found out that French skater Brian Joubert is skating The Last of the Mohicans for his long program this season. If I'd gone with Mohicans I would have looked like a copycat (and no doubt Joubert's choreography is better).

Whew.

Will I upload his program for you? But of course. /French accent

ETA: Hmm. It's a completely different cut of the music. I'm not sure I like Joubert's version.

I misread that as "Last of the Mexicans." No doubt that would have been just as entertaining.

[identity profile] caorann.livejournal.com 2008-12-13 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be sad, and yet I bet the music and choreography would be awesome!

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2008-12-13 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed.

Wow. That is a very handsome picture of Flanigan there. What's it from?

[identity profile] caorann.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
It's from Thoughtcrimes, yet another failed pilot that JF did. If you haven't seen it, you should. The *only* reason I'm glad it didn't get made into a show is that he wouldn't have been on SGA. It's really good and has an interesting premise- he's a NSA agent who's partner is a telepath. And JF is beautiful in it. Whoever did the cinematography just loved him. See above.

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I loved Thoughtcrimes. It would have made a great show. That Scooby-doo moment? Priceless.

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2008-12-13 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Twice as entertaining.

I don't like Joubert's cut of the music either, or the whole program really, it's very passive and I've seen better from him; plus, I always think his short programs are superior to the long ones.

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2008-12-13 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Boy, both Joubert and Lysacek's long programs suck this year.

Oh, thank you so much! I'm downloading!

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
You're welcome, though I might have to upload Joubert's short program to make up for it. It's... not all that great.

He's better off than Lysacek this season. Poor Lysacek. Both his short and his long programs bite.

[identity profile] birggitt.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Is not? *is disappointed* I'll watch, anyway, as we have so little skating around that, even if is not his best performance, it could help to fill the need *sigh*

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Have you seen Joubert's James Bond program? I can send you that if you haven't.

No, I haven't, and I'd love to see it!

Joubert's 2005 SP - Die Another Day (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZXMMGJX4). It's totally rad.

Thank you very, very much! Downloading =D

Have you heard of www.icenetwork.com? I've had problems with them screwing the blackout areas, but they do provide the entire season of figure skating. It's thirty bucks for an entire year, the American regionals, sectionals, and the international Grand Prix -- right up to Nationals and Worlds. All you need is DSL.

[identity profile] birggitt.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
No, I hadn't. I have it open in another tab right now, and will see if there's any way I could pay from here.
Thanks for the link! =D

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
You're welcome. I should do a post about them, with fair warning about their blackout areas and rotten Indian customer service.

If you ever have a problem with them, call them U.S. eastern standard time. Do not use their email or weekend customer service. The daytime people are Americans who actually, you know, solve things. The weekend and email people are in India, and they avoid work at all costs.

And tell me if icenetwork works for you.

[identity profile] birggitt.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Hehehe, once you told rotten Indian customer service I remembered your post.
Sadly, I can't buy the service, as I had no International credit card, but there is a chance my son's Visa be international.
I've call him tomorrow and ask. Shees! That will be fantastic. I'm always complaining about how little space local TV gives to figure skating, so, to be able to watch the whole season would be a real blast =D
*cross all her finger and even toes*

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Is there a way to pay via Paypal?

ext_9136: (Default)

[identity profile] birggitt.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
No, sadly they don't list PayPal :(

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
There's also www.fsvids.net. You can download skating vids from there. That's a fan community so there's no charge at all.

Have you been told lately you are a Goddess?

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! You're welcome and hooray! Fsvids offers more anyway, although they don't have the lower level Regional and Sectional competitions I need.

[identity profile] birggitt.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm waiting to get access, but it is a lot more than I can hunt in YouTube, that's for sure =D
Thanks again. You've made my day =D

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
I'm only sorry that I didn't think of it sooner.

Hey, it is wonderful! And you couldn't know they had not PayPal at www.icenetwork.com, ot that I don't own and international card. And you really help me to be able to watch my favorite sport, so there's nothing to be sorry about =D

Already registered :)

downloads! :)

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
It's not the greatest program, not by a long shot. And Joubert keeps pulling out of competitions because he's unhappy with it.

I love artistic French drama queens.

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Well dling anyway. They don't seem to play any of the skating competitions on TV here, so I get a little fix where I can. :)

[identity profile] rabidfan.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
The program looked beautiful. About half way through, he looks as though he's running backwards for several steps. Interesting.

But I like the theatrical version of the music so much better...it had so much more drama. This one was rather flat. (But he's really pretty.)

[identity profile] harveywallbang.livejournal.com 2008-12-19 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
last of the mohicans music rips my heart out of my chest...
if i need to cry, but can't for some reason, all i gotta do is turn that music on, and it pours out. i don't know what it is, but jeez louise does it tear me up.
something sort of cool: i'm related to the guy who wrote the book. he's like a great great uncle of some kind.
