Lackadaisically sort of writing, as the mood strikes.

Lackadaisical.

I am being positively lackadaisical about Out Of Bounds.

I have kicked my butt into writing two scenes this weekend. Two! That's ridiculous.

What will it take to motivate me into writing that practice session scene? Hmm?

ETA: I think I'm just tired. It has been a tough two weeks on the home front.

If it's people poking you - then consider yourself poked!

*POKE!*

(If not, then I offer arnica and chocolate)

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Poking is good. Poking is very good. I also posted the next part of Out Of Bounds, hoping for some group energy. *g*

Next: chocolate.

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
At least I have those two scenes done. I can conceivably post the next part.

So. There (http://icarusancalion.livejournal.com/841262.html).

Hmm. I'd offer to write you a smutlet of your choice if/when you post the next section, but I know you don't have much time to read lately. So...good vibrations?

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooooh! Smutlet. Sold.

How about... when I finish that darned practice scene (the practice session before John's short program at Nationals) You, ah, write a smutlet -- or any other kind of scene -- set in Out Of Bounds?

Too greedy?

Oooh, a challenge! Don't know if I can meet your level of awesome, but I'll give it a try...

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-20 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
My level of awesome.

...

You know how many times I've read Heteronormativity? Four. Not counting the times where I've just read a favorite section or two (the Anime movie night is joy, as is the Teyla is trying to kill me conversation with Rod). I'll think you'll do just fine, now... *hands you the keys to the Out Of Bounds*

Too greedy for sure.

I have those two scenes done. I was going to wait until the whole thing was finished to post the rest, but I think, well, heck. It's been a WiP this long. Why not post the rest as a WiP? Maybe that'll help me finish it. *g*

So, there we are. More fic (http://icarusancalion.livejournal.com/841262.html).

What will it take to motivate me into writing that practice session scene?

I'm betting the first paper that's due this semester. [g]

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha. Yeah, that'll work. *snorts*

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I did finish those two scene this weekend. I don't have to hold off until the entire story's done. I can post what's ready, and maybe that'll motivate me.

Like this (http://icarusancalion.livejournal.com/841262.html).

Watch The Cutting Edge?

I've been waiting for you to finish as I am now happily flailing about the McShep fandom - late , I know.

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I've actually been holding off on watching The Cutting Edge until after I finish Out Of Bounds. I don't want it to even enter into my mind while writing skating fic.

I've been waiting for you to finish as I am now happily flailing about the McShep fandom - late , I know.

Not really. There are scads of great fics in SGA for you to catch up on. Have you seen [livejournal.com profile] amothea's Master Rec List?

Eagerness. That helps. I am a responsible writer. I will finish fic for readers.

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, that's a good idea. I watched the Novice men's competition. And then realized I should just post what I have. It's been a WiP this long (http://icarusancalion.livejournal.com/841262.html).

[identity profile] beadslut.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
me asking for the playlist link again?

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay. I have to find it. Many, I bet it's really out of date.

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Er. That should say "man" not "many."

P.S. The next part's up (http://icarusancalion.livejournal.com/841262.html).

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-21 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, here you go:

http://icarusancalion.livejournal.com/767148.html

The larger download file is not up to date with the recent music (it ends at John's breakthrough). But the other songs are in the same folder on MediaFire. Enjoy.

[identity profile] beadslut.livejournal.com 2009-01-23 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
That worked, and I am such a happy camper (external hard drive crash with all the music files on...)

Have you thought about Emerson, Lake and Palmer at all? Greg Lake's "Lend Your Love to Me Tonight"? It's full of spins and jumps, not so much on footwork, and 4:05.

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-23 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
The thing is, competition music can't have lyrics. It's against the rules. But they do have lyrics in the exhibition programs.

[identity profile] beadslut.livejournal.com 2009-01-23 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I knew that, I think, but they could use the music alone, right? I think John would blush too much to skate to it with lyrics.

Release my soul release my eyes
A clock unwinds a flower dies
Dishonesty disqualifies
You win the race but lose the prize
A tattered cloak behind the throne
It is unseen it is not known
Behind this face I am alone
I would give everything I own
To touch you...

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-23 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Just reread this: (external hard drive crash with all the music files on...)

Oh. What else did you lose? I may have my Harry Potter "Beg Me For It" series soundtrack available somewhere. Do you like Metallica?

[identity profile] beadslut.livejournal.com 2009-01-23 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I have extremely eclectic taste, I'd give it a try for sure.

It isn't as awful as it sounds, much of it was still available in other places, but I had lost OoB, and quite like the mix, thank you.

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-21 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, here's the Mediafire link:

http://www.mediafire.com/myfiles.php

Hopefully you don't have to be logged into my account for that to work.

Is it possible?

[identity profile] internetname.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it possible that part of you doesn't want to finish? You've had this story in your life for a long time. Maybe you don't want to give it up.

Perhaps you could think a little about the next story you'd like to write, to remind your subconscious that finishing Out of Bounds isn't really "ending" anything.

Re: Is it possible?

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
No. I'm tired. I've been writing it so long. Like a marathon runner, when you get the finish line in sight, suddenly you realize how bone tired your body is.

Re: Is it possible?

[identity profile] internetname.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed, but, again, I find it invigorating to think of the next project -- usually something really different.

If you would like some inspiration, however, you might ask yourself... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pB-oiuPDnco)

I dunno, [livejournal.com profile] internetname. Jogging alongside a tired marathon runner, telling them to think about running again?

I love that South Park song. Brian Boitano was asked about it in an interview and he was very amused.

Re: Is it possible?

[identity profile] internetname.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, how about jogging alongside a tired marathon runner, telling them to think about drawing a picture next time?

Love the whole movie, myself.

How about an inspirational picture?

Image

/Note to self: you are not good at inspirational pictures.

Re: Is it possible?

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha. He looks like he's doing the robot.

I'm going to go back to the music, see if that gets my engines revved up. It has been a rough two weeks for WG and I, so no doubt that's been a factor.

Re: Is it possible?

[identity profile] internetname.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
You know what I always thought would be an awesome skating song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLFZzInXAWI)?

It's like you can hear the skates in the background.

Re: Is it possible?

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, but you can't have lyrics in competition music.

I'm downloading songs from The English Patient, see if there's anything I can use.

Re: Is it possible?

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooo. Composer Michael Kamen did the music for Lethal Weapon. Guys would go for that.

Re: Is it possible?

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
You realize I now have the Talking Heads running through my mind... "You might ask yourself... how do I work this?"

I posted what I have instead of trying to finish the whole thing and post it in one dramatic splot. It's been a WiP this long after all, it can be a WiP a little longer (http://icarusancalion.livejournal.com/841262.html).

MORE STORY! SQUEEEEE!

Oh my, that was fun!

Now write more!

Okay. I will write more. *g*

water flowing over ground

JOHN WANTS TO BEEEEE A CHAMPION! HE WANTS YOU TO FINIIIIIISH!

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! Enthusiasm! From somewhere!

I have this patchwork of scenes. 90% of them are done, including the ending. There are just a handful of scenes here and there that have to be finished to make it complete.

It's sort of like a quilt. Or a puzzle.

The two scenes I did this weekend made it possible for me to post the next part. So that much is up.

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I posted what I have. Why not? It's been a WiP this long (http://icarusancalion.livejournal.com/841262.html).

[identity profile] alfrenne.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't think of any intelligent inspirational comment, but hee to the last poster. Because John wants you to, aha, it's as good a reason as any.

Although, think of the immense personal satisfaction and relief when it is done. Wahoo! (Tiring though, I know).

Anyway, like the slogan for Bulmers cider in Ireland, all in its own good time. We believe, Icarus. Yes you can! *may be high on Obama fever*

(off topic....Rick Warren? I'm still confused. Hmm. Haven't read enough to understand why he was picked.)

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I've no idea what to say about Rick Warren, except that he must have done something for Obama's campaign.

I know last summer some Christian-type writers were saying that Obama was the more Christian of the two candidates. For most Christians that killed any rumors that Obama was a Muslim/secularist.

[identity profile] icarusancalion.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, we can!

I just posted the next part and stopped trying to finish the whole thing at once. It's been a WiP this long after all (http://icarusancalion.livejournal.com/841262.html).

[identity profile] alfrenne.livejournal.com 2009-01-20 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
OH MY GOSH HAVE JUST SEEN UPDATE. Have been busy. What a lovely way to indulge self now. THANK YOU! (also thanks for rick warren info ;)

Yes, slowly but surely you'll get there. Thanks for this bit! *runs off to read*
