Not on Dreamwidth until crossposting works.

Damn it.

Folks, I'm not able to crosspost to Dreamwidth. I've been trying. It's not working. So I'm not on Dreamwidth yet.

For now I'm posting on Livejournal.

Not Dreamwidth.

Why?

Because Dreamwidth crossposting is not working for me. [Insert much cussing.]

Dreamwidth won't let me crosspost to Journalfen. When I crosspost from Seamagic to Dreamwidth, I get timeout errors.

I just lost a long happy post that I attempted to crosspost via Seamagic to Dreamwidth. It timed out. Since I was logging in at Dreamwidth via Seamagic, I lost the whole thing. It didn't post anywhere. Arrgh! [Insert keyboard mash of fury.]

Those of you who think you can read me at Dreamwidth -- you can't. It won't ^%#&%$#&%$&^ post!

ETA: Yes, yes, I followed the directions to add DW to Semagic. The same ones that I successfully used to post to IJ and JF over the last two years. Yes, yes, I posted this post manually. I don't rule out that I've done something wrong. I just don't have the time and patience to fuck with it further. It doesn't work. That's all that matters.

Apparently, they need to enlarge the width of the dream. *groans*

Sometimes, I remember to use wordpad to create my posts. I find it odd that the times I don't remember to use wordpad are the times when my connection cuts out, or the damn things don't/won't post.

So this is an imaginary comment? ;) Silly questions, but are you sure you put in all your info correctly? I mistyped my password and it took me a day to figure it out. You're doing all this correctly? I've used Semagic to crosspost several times now and had no problem - maybe open a support ticket to see what's going on?

I know there have been some problems working with JF - it's running a very old version of LJ code and doesn't want to play nicely with DW.

Did you post this manually? Thus far, I haven't had any issues crossposting with Semagic, so I would definitely open a support request.

Also, you know you can set Semagic to auto-save drafts, yes? :)

Are you able to post to Dreamwidth *only* using Semagic? If not, the only other think I can think to check is, in the login info for Dreamwidth in Semagic, do you have the server name as www.dreamwidth.org?

And I can't post to LJ/IJ/JF from DW because it won't post to JF.

But it did post to LJ and IJ? Because I see that you have a free account and according to the FAQ ( http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=4 ) you can only crosspost to one site if you have a free account.

Hah! Yes, sorry, that did seem a little obvious. But in my defense, the email addresses for my employer are .org, and you would not believe how many people automatically type .com and then get bounce back on their emails to us.

It works just fine for me. Huh.

Also, this does appear on DW, so I think it did work?

Okay, that sucks.

When setting it up, did you follow the instructions I linked to in my LJ?

I'm sorry dude - that sounds v frustrating! I am a Mac person and so don't use Semagic, so I'm no help on that front I'm afraid.

I did get it to work for me (major miracle, and I'm not kidding) but did you try the DW crosspost feature? If you go to the 'post' page in DW, it gives you the option of crossposting to multiple journals there. It's still in beta, of course, but I use it when I'm at work because I can't use Semagic at work (and I rely on Semagic to do my HTML coding because I'm stupid with HTML).
