How wrong can US Policy be?

I know I have a sick sense of humor, but I find the irony of the following hysterical:

"With a heavy dose of fear and violence, and a lot of money for projects, I think we can convince these people that we are here to help them," Colonel Sassaman said.

I didn't make this up, folks. Here's the link.

That's real?!?! I thought you'd pulled it from a fiction book.

You've got to be kidding me.

Hysterical, isn't it? I like an honest man, no matter how clueless.

Really, the time to read the papers is Saturday. That's when all the ugly stories that nobody wants you to read are buried on page five.

In politics, Friday evening press reports are called 'trash day.' Politicians and their media people know that statistically, the fewest number of people read the Saturday paper. It's their job to know this. They also know that if you bombard the papers with a lot of stories all at once, the media has to pick and choose which ones to run. There's limited space.

So what they do is they save up all the embarrassing moments and dump them late Friday afternoon/evening. So if you really want to know what's going on, read the Saturday paper.

Why am I not surprised?

I love it when there's a quote so embarrassing, there's nothing you can do to hide the facts.

Saturday. It's the only day to read the news.

I mean, the sign? "This fence is here for your protection. Do not approach or try to cross, or you will be shot." Grievious goodness.

"You have to understand the Arab mind, ... The only thing they understand is force" Gaah. Arrgh. Where did he get that from, his great-grandfathers diary? For *** sake.

As for arresting people because their relatives are suspects of crimes... time honoured. Did that Pearl Harbour movie happen to mention the fact of asiatic U.S.-inhabitants being put into camps for a couple of years?

*deap breaths, deap breaths*

O.k., difficult situation and drastic measures and all, but this still sucks.

dear gods, please don't let Bush II be re-elected.
