Seventeen drabbles. One down. I wrote the outlines for nine of the others tonight.

This one is for ursule who wanted Ron/Neville. A little shorter than some, but it's one of my favourites. You know I love unusual pairings.

His lips were soft, which was unexpected. Ron looked like he was all skinny angles, but he was soft really. His eyelashes fluttered closed, his breath a warm pant on Neville's cheek, a mist.

They had just been talking, that's all, about Quidditch and family and girls and things like that, when it got really, really quiet.

Neville breathed a sigh, and took in the arching branches overhead, the quiet lake, the patch of sky.

"We probably shouldn't do that again."

They both agreed, as they leaned in for a second kiss.

OK, so two exclamation marks denote extreme but incoherent bounciness. Let me work on the coherence . . . I like the title. I like the fact that the cold matters, which is what the title is telling us, really. I like the arching branches. I like the diffidence.

And I like Neville's point of view. I think Neville makes the quiet, the serenity; and I hadn't been thinking of Neville in that way, before.

I did leave off a few, because it was getting ridiculous, Noir Sensus for one. Kilnfiction for another (although I haven't put much up there). But Checkmated is new to me. I'll have to check it out. *wink*

I've actually seen Checkmated before, come to think of it. But Primer to the Dark Arts (http://www.schnoogle.com/authorLinks/Icarus) is the only fic where I've ever done Ron/Hermione, and they're not the main pairing. So much so that I forget to mention them in the the pairing list. I've only written one Het story <a href="http://www.astronomytower.org/authorLinks/Icarus>Rising Sun</a> and before OotP came out the Harry/Cho shippers were not happy with me, no, not at all. Yes! We need new blood, specifically slashy. There is a serious lack of slash. The only problem is they don't accept Ron with anybody but Hermione, but ah well. SugarQuill is the same. Hey, when (if) you sign up, I'd love to hear your opinion on my first smut attempt (*shameless plug*): Love Bites () *checks html carefully* Looks right.

lol Ok, never mind then. :P I'll be sure to read that one. Harry/Hermione is the only thing I can't read, and I'm sure it's partly because of being around some (seriously) rabid Ron/Hermione shippers.

Yeah, I put my gen fics up on the Sugar Quill, but they don't even accept PG-13 Snape slash. Though they think Sirius/Remus is canon (huh? Sirius? Like hell...).

For some reason, I don't like Harry/Hermione either. I dunno. I just think she'd drive him nuts and it would wreck the friendship because those two wouldn't do a good break up.

I do like trio fics though. The more relaxed and sleazy, the better. ;)

You're probably right. And I just don't see any passion between them. At all. I see it between Ron and Hermione, and Ron and Harry...and Ron and Draco...and (*cough*) 'scuse me. I haven't read a lot of Trio fics...hmm...I know there are a few at The Smutty Project (http://thesmuttyproject.co.uk), but I've been too stick-up-the-arse to give them a chance. :P Funny how I'll read Ron/Ginny, but am leery of Trio fics. lol
