Alright, usually I hate angst. But in this case the painfully difficult relationship between Ron and Harry is so emotionally complex and real, I must recommend this story.
Close Enough Harry/Ron, NC-17
It's exquisitely written. But that's beside the point. This is not your usual 'they were meant to be' Ron and Harry. This is a relationship you will want to work, and will wonder how it could ever work. Oh yes, and there's lots of original, intelligent magic casually sprinkled throughout.
Sorry. Fried. But I hope I've been clear enough that you've properly lured. :)

Date: 2004-03-05 08:39 am (UTC)One of my biggest gripes about H/R is the lack of plot in even really good fics. Most authors seem to assume that any conflict or (nonsexual) tension in the story has to come from without--Voldemort or Malfoy or even just non-understanding people. They don't see the potential for internal conflict, given Harry's general upfuckedness and the fact that he and Ron are kind of coming at the relationship from different worlds. It hasn't seemed to occur to them that relationships need work, even if you're soul mates.
