I'm so sick of this. The American people did not vote Bush into power. He lost the popular election.

Yes. That means more Americans voted against him than for him.

He nickle-and-dimed the Electoral College and won their votes. It works like this:

California ~ population, one gazillion.
Number of electoral college votes: a handful.

North Dakota ~ population, we're not sure anyone lives there.
Number of electoral college votes: half a handful.

Nebraska ~ population, two elderly ladies.
Number of electoral college votes: half a handful.

Therefore, by courting this outbacks, Georgie-boy managed to nickle-and-dime his way into the White House.

Yes, Bush was voted into power by two elderly ladies in Nebraska (who remember Abraham Lincoln as a fine President) and a lost Canadian who accidentally slipped over the border from Saskatchewan into unpopulated Northern Midwest.

I'm being sarcastic here, but that is in fact how he won. That's how our Electoral College system 'works.'

Don't buy the bullshit that the US citizenry is behind this war. I have thousands of protesters outside my apartment building in the streets of Seattle. I-5 is blocked with protesters from Bellevue! Ritzy-glitzy RICH Bellevue! Bellevue doesn't have protests. Usually.

Well, they do now.

And half the apartment windows have 'No Iraq War' signs. Cars drive by with 'No Iraq War' stickers.
