Opening night of Princesses
Aug. 17th, 2005 10:59 pmWhew!
Just got back from opening night of Princesses at the 5th Avenue Theatre. Musical theatre, going to play Broadway after its trial in Seattle (far from the vicious New York critics). Great fun, Brent Barrett and Donna English play fun cartoon characters, the self-absorbed almost-washed-up actor and the nervous simpering music teacher. Their tango number remains my favourite -- that and the truly Vaudeville moments in "What A Drag" and the over-the-top kids' play at the end.
Hee! I love broad and obvious humour. Airplane! remains my all-time favourite movie.
And now... I'm wiped.

Took
wildernessguru to one of the previews (we had a date! Us!) then went for ice cream afterwards. We both agree that the show isn't perfect but was funny and I've been humming the tunes for days. Though they definitely have to recast one part, oh yeah.
Time to rummage in the fridge.
