Doomsday Preppers: I like the ones who think of others. And by "think" I don't mean "think of eviscerating."
Am either enjoying or finding Doomsday Preppers frightening--depending on the prepper.
I'm not big on the folks who stockpile weapons and practice stabbing their neighbors. Not a fan of that thought process.
I like the guy who turned his suburban backyard into a massive garden and self-sustaining farm. Particularly clever is his distilling method that takes grease (which he gets from fast food joints) and distills it into ethanol for his car.
For him, gas prices are about a buck a gallon. Now that's what I call a good idea! You don't need doomsday to make that useful.
Then there's that sweet woman who lives in Helena, Montana, not far from a US nuclear arsenal. She's stockpiling medical supplies to take care of survivors in case of a nuclear attack. She's even got enough radios to resupply the police after an EMP pulse. Plans to just haul them down to help her town recover. She hosts parties to let her neighbors know they can come to her.
Farms? Medical supplies? Those two are preppers I can get behind.
