SNAFU. Done.
Jun. 30th, 2004 10:38 pmFirst rough draft of Beg Me For It part four, SNAFU is done.
It's very rough from about page 31-45. It needs to be fleshed out, transitions smoothed. One part needs to be longer, much longer.
But... I'm feeling sort of blown away.
It's done.

Date: 2004-06-30 11:45 pm (UTC)Hopefully you're talking about the good kind of 'blown away' ^__~
*looks at her measly 5 page chapter with despair* At times like these, I really wish I had your brain, Icarus ~___~ Strike that, I wish I had your brain, period.
Maybe then I could write something awesome *___*

Date: 2004-07-01 01:38 am (UTC)3 pages right now seems like a lifetime to me. And you said you had a deadline for this 'An Audience With The King'? Hmm... must read. Is it on your site?
*is interested*

How many parts are there going to be in total?

Date: 2004-07-01 02:01 am (UTC)It's gonna be six parts. But the good news is parts five and six are already done. It's SNAFU that was hard.

Date: 2004-07-01 08:40 am (UTC)Do you often write chapters out of sequence? And does it make it tricky to go back to a previous chapter because then you have to make sure all the characters and plot points get to where they need to be? I'm not much of a writer, but I can't imagine that would be easy. Of course, if you have a firm idea of how chapter 5 should be, I suppose it's better to get it out of your head and onto paper (or pc as the case may be).
Good lord, I'm rambling...
At any rate, I'm looking forward to reading it. *applauds*

Date: 2004-07-02 10:01 am (UTC)Yeah, I was close to that. I gave myself till this week to finish it, Nanowrimo-style. Now I just have to do some editing, the beta review annnnd...

I have company here for the next couple of days -- that's why I had to finish it this week, or else I'd lose momentum otherwise.

Date: 2004-07-02 10:07 am (UTC)Thank you. I was originally gonna cheap out and just show the battle in retrospect, but back when you beta'd Death Eater Rock you mentioned you wanted it and I realised... "aw, shit. The story really does need it, doesn't it?"

Date: 2004-07-02 10:08 am (UTC)Strangely, I'm not feeling that way this time. I don't know why. I guess it just hasn't hit yet because I'm still editing.

Date: 2004-07-02 10:23 am (UTC)There is one major continuity problem between SNAFU and the next chapter, Stand In The Ruins, that's going to force a rewrite of Stand. It had been a year since I wrote Stand It The Ruins (wrote it last April), and I neglected to reread it before working on SNAFU. It turned out I needed a chase scene in SNAFU that I hadn't planned on. I'll also have to edit for tone I think. But I've already had to make changes to Stand In The Ruins to account for OotP.
I think Stand is a better story for having been written at the time the impetus hit. There are undercurrents in it that I'd forgotten about, that weren't in my notes but came out in the writing. I would have lost those if I'd written it today. :D

Date: 2004-07-02 10:26 am (UTC)Best described as "staggered." But I had a friend coming into town, and only a narrow window to work on it, so it was do or die.
Now I'm eager to get the editing done. :D
