Thank you. An update.
Aug. 27th, 2004 12:14 amOkay, the broken links are now fixed on my site.
Got yelled at again at work. Wonderful. It's good to have reminders as to why I'm going to school: my pure unadulterated hatred for the way secretaries are treated. Though this woman is unusually bad in the way she spews at the office.
Good news though: whee, more reviews for Beg Me For It, and
copperbadge has joined
hp_dungeons, I was gifted with gmail account, all the pouring out of concern in general.
And the best news of all:
wildernessguru's mom is doing much better. The hospital tests show negative for cancer, which is a real relief. She will still have to have the radiation treatments, but -- so far so good.

Date: 2004-08-27 02:25 am (UTC)So I copy-paste-lettercount, to see if maybe I just need to delete two or three letters, but alas. There are 1,377 plus 314 spaces, which your review function may or may not count, but I'm not going to bother figuring it out, because I'm posting the review RIGHT HERE, goddammit. ;P
God. I just reread this for, what the third time? At least. And it was even better than I remembered. And it's one of those fanfics that is not remarkable by its adherence to canon, but by being original and a work of art in its own right. (I'm not saying you don't do a good job of sticking to canon, just that you do but it's overshadowed by the other strengths of the fic. Is this coming out right?)
A few of my favorite lines:
"Sorry. Probably been around Death Eaters too long. They joke about things like that."
Ron's comment really brings home how the DE are evil but becoming to familiar for comfort . . .
"-- we were merely convenient parts in Lucius Malfoy's well-oiled machine. Well-cared for, because that's how one treats useful tools. So they'll last. And not squeak."
Just loved the way you put this metaphor. 'Squeak,' such an appropriate word . . .
"He was just helpless. Like one of those small, yappy dogs that make a whole hell of a lot of noise, but don't have anything to back it up. Perhaps he'd always been like that."
You make such good analogies. I love your characterizations, and this is an excellent example of why.
And this next bit is probably too long to quote, so let's just say, from "Oh, gross" to "I still wank to that image in the shower" is one of the most inspired reactions to sex I've had the pleasure of reading. :D
And practically everything Draco says is so very Draco, and his interactions with Ron are so very wonderful to read, and this story makes me bemoan the dearth of Ron/Draco out there, except I don't want to read someone else's interpretation of it because it won't live up to yours. And I'm not just flattering you, either; it's true.

Date: 2004-08-30 12:57 am (UTC)It makes me so ridiculously happy that my review made you happy. :g:
It occurred to me (too late) that the 'account' giving me grief may have been my brand-spankin'-new Gmail, in which case I may have been slightly too accusatory in my little rant. *still clueless* Forgive?
ETA: The spell-check just suggested three lines of alternatives to 'spankin'. And I skimmed through them and damn if they didn't all sound totally pervy and kinky, even when they weren't. Try it, and tell me if it's all in my head or not? ;)
