Another 12-hour day.

I woke to test nightmares this morning. My philosophy teacher was asking us questions about the Lord of the Rings, which I knew intimately, but because her questions were so 'creative' I didn't know how to answer and was completely confused. Of course, if I'd studied her take on the LotR I would have gotten it right.

I've been warned, I think.

I'm so busy, I don't have any time to write. I barely have time to do my homework. This morning was humiliating and miserable. I actually turned to the student I was partnering with and said, "Now it's your turn to be tormented."

It's only the third week of classes and I'm barely keeping up. The tutoring is incredibly busy. I was torn like a bone between three students yesterday. Don't get me wrong, I love tutoring. But for some reason the students get attached to me and walk right past other available tutors.*

I've a test tomorrow in Law. I've a test Friday in Japanese. I've a test Monday in Philosophy.

Fuuuuuuuuck. No wonder I'm having test nightmares.

PSA: Any fuckwit who asks me for updates right now, when I desperately want to write and

Can't

(yeah that means you, the person who asked for an update to Reunion), will have their nuts ripped off and redistributed accordingly.

ETA: Normally I love, love, love update requests. They get the blood moving on a story, especially if combined with thoughtful observations about the characters. But right now they're a special kind of torture.

* These are invariably male and spend a lot of time looking at me while I'm checking their homework.

Oh man I hate it when teachers bring random personal viewpoints to class while at the same time clobbering a favorite movie/book etc.

*smashes your teacher*

Hang in there. You'll make it and all your hard work will be worth it.

And I promise not to ask for an update ever. :-)

Hangs on for dear life.

Usually I love update requests.

They also work: they get me excited and interested and thinking about the story again (if they're in conjunction with a thoughtful review especially). Often I'll have an update by the weekend.

Right now when I'm swamped though, they are a special sort of torment because I waaaaaaaaaaaaaant to write. I do, I do. *sniffle*

Seeing as I have no nuts attached to my body does that mean...yeah, nevermind. I'd like to keep the girls intact.

Wish I could give you a time turner. There's is a light at the end of the tunnel. And I'm fairly certain it's not the headlight of an oncoming train.

HUGS YOU

HUGS YOU SOME MORE

I'm sick - at home and sulking at the moment. Hopefully over by tomorow!

*Stands on tracks*

You sure about that?

*Hears train whistle in the distance. Chugga-chugga-CHUG-ah-chugga...*

*Stares into the light with that surprised deer-in-headlights look.*

Oh, so sorrrrry I recommended the tutoring, Icarus!

Although tutoring is apparently your gift, indeed, it might be perhaps too much of a good thing. Can you ask your supervisor to distribute the incoming students more equitably?

Good luck with all the tests; learning at a fast clip is very hard work. But the semester will end someday, I promise: about 67 years from now (subjective time).

Oh, any of the work study jobs would have been like this, if not worse. This one at least has downtime.

You see, I figured out the secret to not having such a full schedule:

Don't wear a tight, black, marino wool sweater. *cough*

Today (in a nice loose grey sweatshirt) I had an entire hour free to do my homework. Heh.

Heh. Baggy clothes good trick, but after reading your farting post, you could also try that.

Mweh. I just don't get your uni system. See, over here it's normal to focus on one discipline at a time - so you wouldn't be studying Law, Philosophy and Japanese all at once. You'd do one for a few semesters, then the next - and so on. I mean, your way sounds really interesting and stimulating, but also really stressful, and obviously if you're studying lots of different things rather than narrowing your field down, you can't possibly go into as much depth at once, can you? Sorry, just thinking aloud. Anyway, good luck with the work and all :-)
