Great. Now not only will all our personal information be available but we'll be able to be 'tracked'. They'll probably get people to accept the idea too and that's what's most distressing.

This will never become a marketable product. I suspect its use will be limited to the intelligence community and a few other small populations. I don't see its use ever becoming widespread.

Hmmm...I've actually heard whispers about that in Readers Digest when they were doing an article on invasive tracking devices (the GPS and black boxes in your car, etc.) but I didn't think they'd actually go through with it.

Hopefully, as [livejournal.com profile] gmth said, this will be limited to a small and secured population. I shudder to think what could happen if a common hacker/criminal/stalker/corrupt official got ahold of such vital information.

Food for much thought indeed, no matter what. The line between privacy and publicity is getting thinner and thinner here.

Yup, they've pushed this for a long time with animals (and I refuse to get my aniamls chipped). I knew it was a matter of time before they approved it for humans.

So now, do I need to have it tattooed against my forehead that such implants go against my religion? Its bad enough worrying about making it clear I refuse most treatment in the first place (they tend to assume you're in shock and don't really know what you're saying because who in the world would refuse [insert blank]?)

One thing I'm having trouble finding looking on the site is what the chip is MADE out of. I assume its metal of some kind? Because IF it is, what happens when they insist I really don't know what my beliefs are, stick the thing in me anyway, and I end up in anaphalantic shock (which is completely coincident to my beliefs; I'm seriously allergic to every metal I've ever tried using.)

Oh and BTW- THANKYOU for your thought out reply on the abortion topic. I've been really busy over here and haven't had time to respond, but I *will*, I just didn't want you to think I glossed over it or didn't appreciate the time you put into explaining things.
