Nice.

Oh nice. Someone sent me a one-liner review of The Hat Trick:

"i don't like it."

Thanks for going out of your way to tell me what you feel, without telling me anything at all in the process. Why not? What do you feel should be done differently? What is it that didn't work for you in the story? Pacing? Characterisation? Mood? Style? What?

Lazy little wretch.

With shitty timing.

*shuts LJ again.*

blah, I hate that type of feedback. Had someone email we a one liner of : "Snape is out of character."

The Hat Trick's a great story -- hell, my very critical dad loved it. But it's a trifle dark, especially for a Ron/Hermione piece.

Ron/Hermione fans, particularly those on Checkmated tend to be young, and they like to see them end up together and live happily ever after, and that's not what this is. Ron's deep into some pretty illegal shit and has screwed up his dreams in the process. The story is about him finally coming clean and getting out of the mess he created, it's about integrity and the cost of integrity, verses the emotional cost of not having it -- which is higher?

I have a fairly good idea why they didn't enjoy it. But the timing was pretty crappy, because I just discovered I wouldn't be able to do my [livejournal.com profile] merry_smutmas fic, and I'm pretty bummed out.

There's little point to sending one-liner reviews, except to say thank you. To send a one-liner review of something you didn't like is just revenge.

*HUGS* Hat trick is a kick ass story. And it does suck not having enough time to do the fun things like write fics.

I guess "well, I don't like you" would be an inappropriate rebuttal? *g*

*laughs* That's infinitely more polite than the first response that came to mind, thank you.

Ah, but you couldn't see the hand guesture I mentally included. ;)

*eyeroll*

Probably didn't have enough of whichever pairing the "reviewer" thinks is the One True Way.

The world is full of idiots. Enjoying what you write is the best revenge.

They are quoting Mr Horse! "No, sir, I don't like it."

(Yes, I spent the entire weekend watching Ren & Stimpy)

So you've been dissed by a cartoon horse.

It has a certain crude honesty to it, but I think they would have been even more honest if they'd just said "I don't get it". Because I suspect that's the case.

Well, I adored "The Hat Trick" because it's an intelligent fic and deals intelligently and sympathetically with my favourite character.

Don't let the lunk-heads get you down :-)
