By the way, I lost my response to your comments on Primer (didn't save and then we did a shut down).

But basically, yeah, I did deliberately avoid any major mention of Voldemort. This is because I wanted (and want) Primer to last and still fit in canon through book six (if not seven). I also don't mention Snape being a spy. Primer was written just past GoF, so we didn't even know if he was going to be spy again or not. I made mention of his being in danger from Voldemort, but left it vague. Most people assume it's a reference to his spying, but, we didn't know then.

So far my strategy of avoiding her primary plot has worked: I've only had to change the references to Harry being pure-blood (slightly) and remove the mention of Sirius. Now Harry's characterisation is another matter -- he's definitely a GoF Harry. I imagined an arc where he grew up, but the Harry I wrote is more subtle and less angry then JKR's Harry in OotP. *shrugs* I worked with the cues I had.

I really feel that the downfall of Voldemort is JKR's story to tell, and anything that directly references her main storyline with be off-canon, - and worse, out-moded - by the time she finishes the series.
