The computer's back.
Feb. 6th, 2005 08:25 pmHi. I'm back, though I'll be off-line (except for stories) for the rest of this month - behind on a lot of computer-dependent homework, among other things.
We were very lucky. We lost a lot of data and the system is a wreck (i have visions of swabbing hurricane decks), but the hard drive survived. I was up all night cleaning up the mess, opening up randomly labeled ship-wrecked directories and squinting at incomprehensible lists of numbers that were once neatly labelled files.
You computer geeks will recognize the symptoms: yep. My file allocation table was over-written by Windows.
Welp - have to get back to mopping. *waves, shoulders virtual cleaning equipment and disappears, whistling.*

Date: 2005-02-07 05:34 am (UTC)It turns out the tech guy was wonderful. He fixed everything for thirty buck, and even located the serial number for Word so he could reload it.
Yay, Bruce.

Welcome back!
