20thcenturyvole and mad_maudlin for salvaging a really weak first draft. Sent me back to the drawing board to do a complete re-write of the second half of the story.
Man, my creative writing teacher said in your second draft, "Make Radical changes." That's some of the best advice I've ever received about writing.
