Ah, multi-fandom writing.
Apr. 29th, 2006 01:35 pmHarry Potter and Het
You know, I've always sort of regretted writing Ron/Hermione.
Not the story. I like the story, though there are things I'd change about it. But if there's one pairing where I get consistently hmm... rigid?... points of view, this is it. Not just about the couple, but also "Harry wouldn't be like this" and "Ron wouldn't gamble" and "Hermione would stand by her man" and on and on, especially from one of the sites where it's posted. Most stories when I see a review I perk up, but that one? When it's coming from that particular site? I'm a bit tense every time I open one of these babies.
The Ron/Hermione crowd have very specific ideas about what they want, and in a story about Quidditch, gambling, and corruption, well, that's not what those kids like.
Come to think of it, I had the same reaction from my Harry/Cho story.
I suspect it's because I don't like writing Het and it's apparent. Both of these stories were challenges. When I write Het, I write stories where the relationship is rocky and filled with misunderstandings (which frees my characters for slash in my mind ;). For Het-fans, I imagine the lack of romance is a disappointment.
Stargate: Atlantis
Stargate Atlantis-ness... I have a story I've been posting in bits and pieces to
iibnf. It's not done (because Rodney's being balky about the sex, in the middle of the sex) but I'm wondering if I should post it.
Vote!
- We want 14 pages of John/Rodney sex NOW!
- Finish first
Skating fic... I confess, I grinned when this week's Without A Trace was about a young skater. Would you believe that Caldwell's now shown up in the story? And Elizabeth (though not together)? This is a peculiar mid-point. I'm still debating whether the part with Kavanagh's worth adding or just a distraction. :D
In the meantime I'm in my own WIP hunger:
Ardhanarishvara by Auburn and Mona
Do you like genderbending, taken seriously? Yeah, me too. How 'bout some excellent writing as well as a team-fic? Have at it. *points*
Teacher's Pet by
seperis
Snuggly AU where John has been turned into an 8-year-old by an alien culture. He doesn't remember any of his adult life as his team takes care of him until he can be changed back. Did I mention he's adorable?
I'm thinking I should write something for the current
sga_flashfic challenge. Though first with some, cough-cough, research.
ETA: Why, do you ask? Because the current challenge contains:
The No. 1 Top All-Time Frivolous Use Of Time Travel by
trinityofone
Now... where is that wild very-high rave-fic that spawned this challenge? Oh, well, never mind. At least I've been able to find the very scary (and funny):
How To Reduce Negativity by

Oh, the pain, the pain. I think we all have lived through meetings like this.

Empty! No criticism, no comment. *laughs*

Date: 2006-04-30 02:02 am (UTC)I went to school. On a Saturday. In the rain.
And she stood me up.
Checked my email in the library and sure enough, there was that last minute apologetic cancellation.
Hung out in the library until it closed (WG was picking me up at 5pm). Then I stood. In the cold and rain. Waiting. For 14 minutes, till I gave up, splashed through puddles, and went to catch the bus.
Stood at the bus. In the rain. Then spotted him driving up the road.
24 minutes late.
Hailed him like a taxi in New York (dripping wet and miserable). Then I went home.
Groups. I really, really, really hate groups.
My shirt's still wet.

Pretty good excuse. *wrings out dripping wet shirt* Groups are all like this. If we were working together at least I could count on us both being in the same physical location from 8-5.

Date: 2006-04-30 03:30 am (UTC)There's enough anxiety and stress on real life to spend days worrying over John making it through the next Genii attack/female wanting a baby attack, or if Rodney will actually give into his feelings and confess his true love for John/Radek/Carson/Legolas/Ronon, or if Ronon will actually say a line that an author who isn't shipping him gave him more than to just show he/she knows there's a character called Ronon, or if Teyla will have more scenes written not about her boobs.
Seriously, being a fangirl is hard work, I don't need to pull extra hours.
*tongue in cheek*
