More To A Kiss
by Icarus
Ron leaned down to kiss Draco, his warm, firm lips parting beneath him. He remembered when they didn't kiss. Rather silly, given everything else they were doing. Then one night, they just – did it. It started with nips and kisses to the chest, neck, a little nibble at the ears, mouth sliding along his jaw... Ron was surprised, and then amazed that they hadn't done this before.
It had become a personal favourite to get Draco all hot and bothered, then silence his sighs, feel his breaths against his cheek, with that up-close white smile as they parted for a moment, wet and bemused. He found Draco was a pro at kissing, cool and collected. He responded effortlessly to every little signal; while Ron knew how to pour his soul into a kiss, and liked to make the other person forget if they're sitting or standing.
That first time, well, Draco's chest just rose and fell for a full minute, his lips still parted. He didn't say anything though, just leaned up for more.

That would be my favorite pastime too, Ron. Don't blame you.

Lovely, just lovely. Thank you :-D.

Date: 2003-08-22 05:53 pm (UTC)While this worked beautifully as a drabble all of its own ... I couldn't help feeling that such a momentous moment deserved more context. I love the way you draw the progression in the lads' relationship, from the horror of their first sexual encounter in the ring, to the surprising first night that - for all his denials - knocked Ron's world slightly off its axis forever, and then into a love affair that neither of them would quite admit to.
My point? We don't *see* much of this progression. It happens offstage, in time lapses. We go from a one-off encounter at the end of Beg Me For It to the beginning of Part 2, where the boys share an established ritual (if not quite relationship), with which they're both comfortable. It must have been a fascinating develeopment for both - Ron putting aside his "I tell you I'm *straight*" speeches; Draco getting past the trauma of his capture and torture.
*goes all wistful*
I would have liked to have seen more of that in the first kiss moment. Which, of course, is to wish for your drabble to be something it never set out to be. Which is probably unfair.
I did like this drabble, very much. It made me all soppy and tender, as does so much of your work. All I'm saying is ... if you ever feel tempted to write more about the gap between Beg Me For It and Sex, Drugs etc, well I will just lap it up!
yours as always

More To A Kiss
Date: 2003-08-30 01:24 pm (UTC)But so far I'm not finding a story in there. The shifts in their relationship happened slowly, unnoticed by them, not percipitated by anything else. Everything that their relationship became was compressed into the ending of 'Beg Me For It.' Then, the real change came in 'Sex, Drugs and Death Eater Rock.' It was only then that Ron set aside his "I tell you I'm straight!" protests. But it takes until 'Hey You' for him to finally admit that, yeah okay, it's not just a matter of convenience anymore.
I think what I need to do is add the drabbles back into a version of 'Sex, Drugs and Death Eater Rock', so you can see both how they tie the stories together and (as
This little drabble was cut from another story (Hey You' which was the original beginning of SNAFU). I like it more than I realised and am grateful
