Got recs?

I'm feeling kind of down today. Talking to my mother bums me out. I'm tired and should be studying for midterms.

Tell me something good that happened to you today.

Well, not today, but over the weekend at YaoiCon, there was this cute gay couple that asked why I wasn't up for auction. ...hee!

The case of butter arrived at work today so I was able to make three batches of scone dough. Which is good because we were totally out.

My sweetie read a funny SGA story out loud to me this morning to keep me from freaking out, even though she should have been doing her own work. And it even helped. :)

This might make you chuckle from one of my flist:

According to [livejournal.com profile] darthfi, the writing of explicit material is an irregular verb:

I write culturally subversive material that challenges the patriarchy.
You write hot smut.
She/He is a sick and twisted pervert.
They are the subjects of a restraining order.

Oh, you know...not very show-offy...can only play the piano... Though, since I was dressed like McKay, I guess I could've done three minutes of technobabble and berating.

(*makes mental note to get one of the other auction people to dress up as Ronon or McKay and make some fangirls' dreams come true*)

I locked myself out this morning. With no coat, running 15 minutes late. The good? There was an unlocked window that I found (in the dark, tripping over lawn furniture and flowerpots) and crawled through. That mean I was only 30 mintes late this morning, and I didn't sprain an ankle in the breaking and entering.

I'd give you recs, but all I got that are fresh are bandslash, sorry.

I slept this morning. Then my mother called, and we compared weddings we had gone to this past weekend: she had a yoga instructor marrying an Massage therapist whose mother was named Inana Moonflower (and she sang, flat, halfway through the ceremony); I had a slutty coworker marrying a Mennonite, whose family she doesn't like, in a quaker ceremony that made the attendants charmingly uncomfortable. I won based on the catering: her's was unremarkable, but I had vegans at mine and while all of the food was wonderful, not even the side dishes would do as there was some excellent cheesy rice and some corn with veggies and bacon.

This morning my bus ran late, making me sprint uphill to the train station. The train was sitting on the tracks as I legged it down the stairs and started to pull out just as I got there... and then the driver stopped it again to let me on!

My faith in human nature is now fully restored.

Fraid I'm no help here. I've had a day that defines aggravatingly stupid.

Have your socks arrived?

I had a very cute, flirty exchange with the hot guy at work this morning at the coffee truck.

Also, I have pears at home that I'm planning to make into pear crumble.

*cue sudden surge of guilt*

I got them on Friday. I have here the DVD -- packaged, addressed, ready to be mailed except for the postage -- and was holding off my thank-you-they're-wonderful email until after I'd sent it like I was supposed to over a week ago, wince.

I will write glowing things about sockses as soon I get this darned thing in the mail and the cloud of guilt disperses. I do really, really like them.

I actually got a significant amount of Wednesday's homework done last night.

Not, uhm, all of it, but that's better than usual, which is getting a significant amount of Wednesday's homework done by six hours before I have to wake up and go to class.

Awesome. That feels good, doesn't it? It has that do-gooder feel combined with getting the pressure off -- and doesn't it feel like you do better, too?

Good for you.

This was a good idea. I'm really happy to hear these things.

Don't go feeling guilty.

You know, I usually don't dig wingfic, but I loved it. John deserves wings. Big, beautiful, glossy black wings. I only wished he had a chance to keep them longer.

Quote of the day, from lunch, during conversation about this weekend with a friend:

We don't have lives, we have sex lives.

Also, during class we were looking over sonnets by Du Bellay, and I came across a couple of words that really made my day: etoilles vagabondes - Vagabond stars

Good luck with midterms, I'm off to research until my brain leaks out my ears!

I bought candy today. Free candy for our con-workers this weekend actually.

Buying candy makes me happy, and knowing that they will be given to tired and stressed people who work for free makes me almost even happier. Especially since I am one of those people so two of these darlings are alll mine

Oooo. What did he look like? I can picture the pears (and the pear crumble) but the cuteness must be quantified.

He's a little shorter than average height (which is fine by me, since I'm only 5' tall), short dark hair, a goatee that is scruffily turning into a full beard, and really, really pretty blue-green eyes. Oh, and he has this gorgeous deep voice -- I can always tell if he's somewhere in the vicinity, even if he's all the way on the other side of the office.

Wedddings are just all kinds of awful, aren't they? I call the wedding ceremony the "public humiliation." People getting creative with their weddings just digs it deeper.

Thank god I'm too old for my mom to plan a wedding for me. Back in high school she fantasized about putting me in a horse-drawn open carriage (yes, white horses with plumes, in case you were wondering) and she was going to rent the Presbyterian church that looked like an English castle.

Mom, put down the Princess Diana video and back away slowly... yes, that is C-4 that I've attached to it.

I had vegans at mine and while all of the food was wonderful, not even the side dishes would do as there was some excellent cheesy rice and some corn with veggies and bacon.

LOL! Oh, wonderful. I bet they had something to say about that.

They were, apparently, rather meek for pagan vegans - didn't hear a word of complaint. Then again, there were several kinds of chocolate and good coffee.

My mother gave my sister and me a choice when we were in high school: we could either have a really elaborate wedding, or we could have an expensive college education, but not both.

i admire you for your contributions, your fic, your sweet snarky self, even though I really don't know you at all. I fell in love with "Jericho" and "Sonic Boom" in SG-1 and never looked back.

Thank you for being here. Here, have some Halloween chocolate.

Yeah, I kinda felt the same way, that it would have been nice to keep the wings for an extra week or so. At least he has Rodney to help cheer him up. ;)
