I was actually part of one of these groups that they test them on - I did a questionnaire in which I was asked whether I would like to use a tampon which smelled of lavender (where did they think I was going to put it?!) and also tried a tampon where they'd made a little fan that sort of stayed outside you to try and stop leakage. It was very uncomfortable.
