Musical randomness
Feb. 5th, 2008 06:58 pmAnd now, I shall horrify you with my taste in music. Yes, yes, this is supposed to be couched in a meme, but what is the point of said memes, I ask you?
Let the horror begin.
I quickly add that some of these may be WG's fault.
1 & 2 - Soundgarden - "4th of July" ... quickly followed by ... Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Sir Psycho Sexy"
Wherein Icarus proves that her tastes run to the mainstream and ordinary. Also, she can no longer play these songs as she overplayed them both while writing Beg Me For It.
3 - Ramones - "Too Tough To Die"
Yes, like everyone else, Icarus didn't care for the Ramones back in the 80s (during which time she played bubblegum pop) but she's retroactively cool now, oh yeah, sure.
4 - Tangerine Dream - "Going West"
All the electronica-New Age stuff belongs to
wildernessguru, I swear. (He can name TD albums, really.) Except Enigma. I take full responsibility for the Enigma.
5 - Sade - "Jezebel"
This and "Minnie The Moocher" are the closest I get to jazz, but only because Sade has one of the best voices ever -- and who doesn't love Cab Calloway? (I only learned of Calloway because of the movie The Cotton Club.)
6 - The Black Angels - "Manipulation"
I'd love to take credit for this bit of cool -- rising indie band, anyone? But this is
wildernessguru's find. I've only seen two live concerts in my life: the Black Angels and the Motor City Devils.
7 - Tangerine Dream - "Underwater Twilight"
He's a really big fan of Tangerine Dream.
8 - Blondie - "Call Me"
Yep. That's mine. I love this song.
9 - Joss Stone - "Put Your Hands On Me"
wildernessguru bitches and moans at my Detroit R&B. Though that may be because I crank this one, full blast, and have played it... *counts* ... 110 times.
10 - Kristine W. - "Lovin' You"
Ehhhh... not my style, but we both love the Queer As Folk soundtracks. Despite the occasional dud.
11 - Mussorgsky - "Circus Polka For A Young Elephant"
Another one that
wildernessguru whines about, but I love my Russian composors, and that's that. Okay, okay, I got this piece for Rodney in Out Of Bounds.
12 - CSI Soundtrack - "Day By Day"
WG's. But I call it a windshield wiper song. It's perfect for a wet highway.
13 - Thomas Newman - "Zoomies"
Jarhead Soundtrack. Music I picked up looking for pieces for John in Out Of Bounds.
14 - Blink 182 - "Adam's Song"
I prefer Dammit. We saw Blink 182 on Conan O'Brian and thought they were the greatest.
15 - Old School Rap
I was looking for that song that had the refrain "The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire! We don't need no water let the motherfucker burn!" I ended up with this instead.
16 & 17 & 18 - Three Dog Night - "Shambala" ... and shortly after that ... BTO - "Taking Care Of Business" ... and after that ... Quiet Riot - "Bang Your Head"
From Supernatural, and well, this is
wildernessguru's generation. *squeezes him*
19 - The Killers - "The Ballad Of Michael Valentine"
A song that I think sucks. But that's okay, because "Where The White Boys Dance," "Tranquilize," and "All The Pretty Faces" are on the same album. I discovered The Killers in a figure skating vid. Some kid didn't seem to get that "Where The White Boys Dance" was about a guy cheating on his girlfriend with other other men. All she heard was the word "Dance" -- hee.
20 - Johnny Cash - "Cocaine Blues"
Entirely Joe Flanigan's fault. I had to see what the big deal was about this "Johnny Cash" cat. I'm meh about this song but I like what he recorded when he was much older.
There you go. My random 20. Thank you for participating. Any songs you care to admit to liking I will be more than happy to upload.
Huh. We didn't even hit the Bollywood movie music yet.... *Icarus dodges tomatoes*
P.S.
wildernessguru recommends the Iraqi heavy metal band Acrassicauda, by the way.
