If this article from Slate (http://www.slate.com/id/2198543/pagenum/all/) is to be believed, that's not exactly the case. What I find distasteful isn't so much the plagiarising (though plagiarising five pages from a published article in a term paper isn't distasteful, it's downright stupid) but his lies about his academic qualifications.
