Art Class

So Art so far has my toughest, most ruthless teacher. Remember when I was counting on it not having any homework? I already have 9 pieces I have to complete by next Tuesday.

*goggles*

Between this and work (not counting any time for homework yet) I have a thirteen hour day today.

Funny coincidence - my Dad as it works out (the professional Art Director) is taking a watercolor class, too.

Anyway I know how you feel. I'm convinced that art teacher banded together a few years ago and decided they were tired of being considered the "easy" elective. Every art teacher I've ever had was like a not so hidden Attila when it came to giving out homework.

But art isn't easy. I look forward to seeing your stuff. You will be sharing it right?

You're absolutely right. I spoke with the teacher after class (yeah, I'm just that kind of suck-up who has to know what's going on in a teacher's head... plus I tend to be closer to the teachers' age than the students' at this point) and that's what he talked about -- how arts in our culture aren't taken seriously, and artists are often asked to work for free or peanuts. Said he's reached the point where unless it's for some worthy cause, he says no. Thank goodness the artwork isn't due until next Tuesday.

You know, I hadn't considered sharing. For the first few weeks it's just going to be colour studies et al. But if I manage to keep my job through all this, I will have access to a scanner.

Hey babycakes, I hope that everything goes reaslly well for you at school - I'm really exccited to hear about it. Even if the teacher is trying to prove a point. Maybe the coursework will ease up once the deadwood drops off, surprised that this class isn't the breeze they expected it to be?

Ouch. When I was doing eleven hour days, I thought that was bad. Thirteen? Puts me to shame. You're a very strong person for being able to manage that.
