I don't know enough about Buddhism to speak intelligently about it, so I will certainly check that out.

In a related story: Last night I went to Target with my cousin and as we were getting out of the car one of the cart wrangler guys was loitering around. He said hi to my cousin, as she used to work there, and we apologized for being in his way for a second. His response?

"I'm in no hurry, man. No, I'm not in a hurry. I'm a buddhist, man. You could take all day and not piss me off. You know, cause I'm a buddhist. Buddhists don't get mad you know. We're like, really chill, you know."

I had to bite my tongue because what I was about to say was: "Oh really? Do you think you're the first hot-topic wearing, anime-watching, WoW playing douche to claim you're super fucking zen because you're a "buddhist"?"

Instead, I rolled my eyes at my cousin and we kept moving. Massive, massive eye roll. I hate how it's become trendy to claim participation in a religion or spiritual practice because it makes you look "cool". I find it extremely disrespectful to those who actually do believe in and follow those schools of thought. Though this guy in particular was doing nothing for his cool-o-meter by letting me know he's "like, really chill, you know". The black hat with teddy bear ears and matching black mittens pretty much ruined it for him.

So yes, I would like to expand my very limited knowledge of buddhism so that next time, I can ask him (or whoever pulls that b.s.) a question about it, and see if they know what they're claiming to believe.
