Yearly fic round-up, 2009.
Dec. 31st, 2009 07:48 pmFic 2009
I followed The Big Pink's advice and allowed myself to write nothing else (not even Merlin fic that was desperately trying to escape) to finish the single-largest piece I've ever written. It encompassed three years of effort, a dozen betas, research (including travel)... I finally finished:
Out Of Bounds, SGA, John/Rodney, NC-17
aka the 'skating fic.' An utter self-indulgent cliche. John's a rebellious figure skater who after twelve years of competition has one last shot. Rodney's the former World Champion, shattered by defeat (can't you just hear the Olympic theme song?) who can make it happen. But first....
Believe it or not, I did manage to write a few other pieces this year.
Toasty Goodness and the Marshmallow Creature, SGA, John/Rodney. PG.
The gateroom lights flashed, sirens and alarms screamed over each other, techs raced to fix the iris. All in all it was a pretty good show. It was also pretty damned useless.
Supernatural
Preacher's Daughter, SPN, Cas and Ruby. PG.
It was the second lightning bolt that gave him away.
Harry Potter
Twu Wuv , HP, Harry/Ginny, Cheshyre's fault. And with that pairing how can I blamed for not following directions? PG-13
Merlin
Dragon Powers, Merlin, Gaius/Merlin (not my fault, I swear!), PG-13
"Kwaleche erhim ghrafar nuinduiunar," the old dragon rumbled. "Luitras martrarm alleche tristrarnaha."-- Merlin sighed, hands going limp at his sides. "Great. That's really helpful."
Spring, Winter, Fall, Merlin, Gaius/Merlin (also not my fault, I swear!), PG-13
"In twenty-five years or so the age difference would hardly matter," Arthur said.
Merlin's Mirror, Merlin, Arthur/Merlin, PG-13
Merlin caught a haze of movement across its surface -- like an object half-glimpsed through fog -- and stiffened. Magic. Logic (and, all right, Gaius) had taught him that it took a powerful enchantment to remain on an object outside the presence of a sorcerer.
The Forest Llandrae, Merlin, Arthur/Merlin, PG-13
Arthur's footfalls were utterly silent even on dry leaves as he moved unerringly towards the shimmer of silver bright water, visible between the trees.
Breathless, Merlin, Arthur/Merlin, PG-13
"Say. You're. Sorry." Merlin's eyes flashed yellow. Arthur rose into the air several feet above his sheets, then turned over, all the vulnerable parts he'd held clapped to the bed exposed.
And finally:
