Detroit 187

You know, I keep seeing these ads for Detroit 187. Looks like a great show. All these tough-looking white guys worthy of the Bronx.

One thing though.

I'm from Detroit.

I've never met a white Detroit cop.

I'm sure there's at least one.

Oh, you said it. I'm not even from Detroit, and I wondered about that.

They have two, which they keep in storage for special occasions, like visiting network execs who want to shoot a show there and wanna get a feel for the place.

I've known several.

Wanted to clarify, I've known them in the past and my daughter currently knows several, including a detective.

Detroit has a huge black population but there are still a lot of whites, especially in the police/fire category.

Sorry, didn't want it to sound like a debate. I'm at work and did a "quick while I had a minute" post. In fact I thought it might have sounded rude so I was going to send you a private email when I saw you'd replied.

I agree that the show has far, far too few blacks. Something like 60% of the officers are African American. It's just that you said you didn't know any white police officer and I did and my daughter does. But then my BIL was a fireman and Pokey works in a bar and gets to meet a large cross section of people.

No debate, not me. That's why I stay out of fandom except for the fic, I'm too old and tired for drama.
