I interviewed the husband. He says that since you're not a gamer, you can buy a motherboard with integrated graphics and it will do everything you need. He recommends Intel over AMD, because the Intel chips use less power. The current choice is i3, i5, or i7, with i7 being the fastest; glasseye thinks that i7 would probably be overkill.
