AO3 question from a Twitter friend: can you re-adopt orphaned fics?

I know you can orphan works. But can you orphan and then re-adopt them?

A Twitter fandom friend wants to post on AO3 anonymously, then have a reveal, like you would in a collection.

Is there a way to do this for a single story?

Cannot re-adopt orphan works. (Probably, something could be worked out if someone desperately needed to, but would require going through the committee. Is certainly not a feature they want to allow.)

Probably the best way to post anon and then reveal is to set up a collection. I'm not sure if collection owner(s) can be anon. Hm.

Definitely a feature worth asking for--temporary anon status followed by reveal at author's choice of time, without the need to set up a collection for it.
