One nice thing about the power going out: I got a lot of fics reformatted and ready to go back up on my website.
:D
P.S. Please, someone tell me not to write The Mentalist slash featuring Cho. Just. Stop me, okay?

Date: 2012-07-17 06:20 pm (UTC)Jayne: "So you felt guilty because he went to prison because he got caught with your gun...."
Cho: "No. I thought he was stupid to have the gun on him."
Jayne don't speak Cho.
Gang leader: "Yeah. Cho was the man you called when you needed something served cold."
Jayne: "He's still like that."
Gang member to Cho: "It's amazing you came back after what you did to [gang leader name]."
Jayne, later: "Just out of curiosity, what did you do?"
Cho: "I shot him."
Jayne: *blink* "How did that happen?"
Cho: "I told him I'd shoot him. He drew his gun. I drew faster. Drilled him in the shoulder."
Jayne: "I can see why there might be hard feelings. So that's why you left the gang?"
Cho: "No."

Date: 2012-07-18 11:09 am (UTC)Cho prefers ice cream parlors over bars, and amusement park rides to parties of any kind. He comes straight from work, still in his suit and tie, and prowls the county fair with a determination to play every game no matter how silly, and try every ride, no matter the line.
Waiting for the ferris wheel, he glances around at the families, the cotton candy stalls, the noise, and takes in the smells with an air of bemusement, like a foreign tourist soaking up the local culture. He hands over his tickets with a serious nod and startles when the gondola car jolts to a stop. As the car rises, he looks at the people in the other cars as much as he looks at the scenery below.
Afterward, he buys a hot dog and eats it slowly at the stand. He doesn't walk and eat like everyone else.
Finished, he balls up the paper napkin and throws it onto an overflowing trash can, then, head down, he aims for the farm animals.
It's never hard to move through a crowd with Cho, not even at a state fair. People instinctively get out of his way. He doesn't seem to notice this is unusual.
At the cow barn, he puts his foot up on one rung of the fence, elbow on the edge, and leans his chin on his fist. He studies cows for a long time.
Afterward, as the sun sets, he wins another shooting game -- though first he fixes the gun sight. "It's rigged," he explains, with a dirty look at the proprietor, like this isn't something everyone knows. He dutifully hands over the stuffed pink rhinoceros to his date.
