The trouble with watching the entire Star Wars series is it reveals how bad episodes I-III are compared to the original trilogy. The writing... owww....

(I'm watching Star Wars in the machete order recommended here. They're right. Treating eps I-III as an extended flashback really works.)

I can see the logic of machete order, but also can't be arsed to do the work for films that I find utterly worthless. I'm a pretty massive Star Wars nerd, but I'm still stubbornly refusing to admit that the prequels exist. It's not that they're so bad - although they are - it's that there's nothing in them I want to see. I just don't give any fucks at all about any of them.

... one of these days I should do a post on my headcanon original trilogy backstory, which I developed as a kid and still use today.

Wow. I *love* the Machete Order. I have teenage daughters who've never seen the series, and I'd been meaning to fix that, but wasn't sure where to start. This fixes all the worries I'd had about continuity.

And when I want to fill in the gaps, I'll make 'em watch Episode 1, followed by Darths & Droids.

Wow, that is a fantastic post! I like parts of Episode I, but yeah, it doesn't add much to the story. Episode II makes me cringe with the horrific love story, however, it does set up III. I may try this! There is a guy on youtube who made a great video about how he would fix Episode I, and that includes making the prequels Obi-Wan's story, not Anakin's. Luckily, my parents still have their original VHS set of the trilogy, and I have a VCR. I've already told them I want the movies in the will:)
