I've now talked to a friend, my aunt, and my ex. I was kind of hoping that someone would talk me into going, and one friend did, but mostly folks are in total agreement with cold little toesies:

My ex: "This is like you and that ferris wheel. You hate heights. You white-knuckle it all the way around. I don't know why you'd go."

My aunt: "You don't know anybody there? I don't blame you. It's really cold out tonight."

I miss Seattle and want to go home.

I've gone "out" all of twice for New Year's, & both were to friends' houses. My usual plan is a movie marathon, or the twilight zone marathon. So I vote for what makes you happy. Home doesn't have to mean lonely, & going out doesn't have to mean that particular party either. What's your temple up to tonight?

I know what you mean about wanting to go home -- if I were in Boston, I'd be at a lovely party with great food, and people who didn't mind that I'd probably curl up on a couch and let people come to me, because my body decided to ring out the old year by wringing out the contents of my uterus (great image, I know) and I'm half-looped on painkillers.

I am home, in my pjs, sitting in my usual spot on the couch, half-looped on said painkillers and thinking I probably won't do much at all. But I have tea, and I have some nice things to eat, or I can make comforting rice porridge because my stomach is feeling predictably weird, and at least I'll ring in the new year in comfort.

Maybe next year, you and I can both find places we want to be!
