THIS!!! I don't really write, and I do offer beta when someone I know is writing a canon I know, but that's not very often. So, in order to Contribute To Fandom, I comment! Almost every fic I read gets a comment, and I try to be specific and pick out the things I liked in particular, instead of leaving the verbal equivalent of a kudos.

It's not a big thing, but I hope I make fandom a little more pleasant by my presence.

I am in favor. Except that even when I get long, awesome, talky comments on my fic, I feel a little weird taking the conversation even further down that road because it seems self-congratulatory? This is probably a hangup I need to get over, because obviously they like my stuff; I just don't want to be that boob who drones on about my fic...

This is something I do periodically, actually; I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one. (As everbright says - I don't write, and I don't vid/podfic/do anything else that one posts, so aside from the occasional rec or meta commenting is my main activity in fandom!)

I do go through phases where I can't comment much because I just can't make the words come out, but I try to bookmark things read in those phases to comment upon later, and sometimes I go on "feedback binges" where nearly everything I read gets at least some kind of comment.

Because yep, I miss all the talking that went on back before Tumblr became my fandom's main "commmunication" hub.
