What happened with the ... thing?
Aug. 30th, 2013 12:46 amI find that with a busier life (and just like the rest of you, a busier online life as well) I'm no longer chronicling everything in LJ.
So what happens is that I complain about something here ... and then I never mention the outcome.
PETA's threat to sue. The Socially!Capable guy. The county shutdown of my temple. My totally totaled car. Grad school. That SGA story about the Bar exam.
Anything you want to hear the outcome on?

Date: 2013-08-30 06:05 am (UTC)He contacted me. To ask me out for coffee. Like, like--a normal person would.
This gives me the opportunity to, with such clearly defined boundaries, to communicate with him directly that while I'm interested and find him attractive, I'm not dating at this time.
I... I'm flabbergasted. Is this what happens with normal people? Clear communication? I haven't been able to respond yet (he emailed this am) because I'm so flustered and confused.

The first time I mention it.
Then there was this....

Date: 2013-09-07 02:58 am (UTC)The temple is looking Gorgeous. We raised $200k though the legal expenses have burned through a lot. The new bathrooms are in. The prayer room has been upgraded to meet all the standards required by county codes, including the firewall, etc. And it's gorgeous, just -- oh. So elegant. If this is how the rest of is going to come out I can't wait. The handicap access path and ramp is nearly complete and is making a lovely slow meander through the gardens behind the temple.
We're almost ready to apply for the Use & Occupancy permit.
With that, we won't be a full Buddhist TEMPLE, but we will have a fully legal Buddhist ROOM. In that room we'll be able to gather up to a hundred people. Which means a lot of tight scheduling. We're used to having a whole temple.
The next priority is ... lawyers.
Lots and lots of lawyers. The next payment for the attorneys -- who've served ooooh-so-very-well, you have no idea -- is $30k.
Why lawyers? Because for the whole building to become a fully Buddhist temple (instead of the de facto Buddhist temple it's been for thirty years) ... we have to be re-zoned. We have to get an exception for our temple, which is currently on residential property.

Date: 2013-09-07 02:40 am (UTC)They may never have been sure they had the right person. They may have disliked being laughed at in the press. They may have known full well that they would've been kicked out of court with prejudice. But it was like dealing with one of those pill bugs.
The Socially!Capable guy asked me out for coffee, like a normal person. I said that sounded lovely but with my car situation, not workable at present. He offered to pick me up, but wasn't surprised when I declined.
