The puppy sleeping on the couch behind me and I agree that it's 'A Spell to turn Tigers to Butter.' There's something about the economy of writing and sly knowingness that just gets me every time. The puppy, well, he just thinks it's funny.

And Just Plain Wrong. Hands down.

Because when I first read it, I wanted to throw up, but managed to come back for more and was glad I did. Not many stories can touch me that much (whether violently or not).

I second this. And because it's so disturbing for me in so many ways, even more than The Spell To Turn Tiger Into Butter.

Though I love The Worst Happiest and am tempted to write-in for As Sharp As Sunlight, I'm going to have to go with And Just Plain Wrong.

The fic made me completely ill, yet I've read it several times. The power struggles, the absolute debasement of characters I love, the helplessness. Ack. And of course, the writing's damned near perfect. It's just everything fanfiction ought to be.

'Droit Du Seigneur' - for wonderfully nasty Lucius, furious and standing up to his father (but beaten in the end)Draco, and of course the best humiliation scene I've ever read (Harry's crawl to the bathroom and back - makes me shiver every time I read it).

'And Just Plain Wrong' is a close second. As well as 'A Spell To Change Tigers To Butter' which gave us a deliciously devious Harry.

Oh man I forgot about 'No Happy Memories' - that one made me cry and I can't stand to ever read it again (it ties for second with the other 2 I mentioned) She has too many good fics!

Oh god, how can I choose from these? I guess I'll go for 'And Just Plain Wrong'. I couldn't stop thinking about that fic days after I first read it.

A Spell to Turn Tigers. This was the first fic of hers that I really devoured and said, "Hey, here's a writer to keep an eye on." I still read it about once a week and it never fails to stun me every single damn time. A real work of art.

(Can I also add a write-in vote for No Happy Memories? C'mon, pleeeeeeeeeeease????)

Oh, I'm so torn between A Little Touch Of Harry In The Night, As Sharp As Sunlight, No Happy Memories, and A World Not So Black Nor White. They're all so wonderful!

I think, yeah, that I'm going to have to write in A World Not So Black Nor White (http://www.amanuensis1.com/aworldnotsoblack.html). It's one of my favorite LM/HP pieces, and I really love the plot of it. I love how Harry's and Lucius's relationship progresses throughout the fic.

Without fail, my favorite is A Little Touch of Harry in the Night. This is not for any lack in the others, but rather for a pure and unadulterated fangirl rabidity for Shakespear's Henry V, and the fact that Amanuensis's treatment of it makes me feel oh, so clever for being able to track the process of the play scene by scene. And she still manages to make the characters fly by their own wings. Henry!Harry is a wonderful spin on the boy, and one which maketh my little heart to go pitterpat...especially when he accosts Severus in his rooms. *Drools* Aside from the hotness of the sex in general, it is the sheer ROMANCE of that scene which keeps me coming back to this fic over and over again.

So there.

*Thinking, thinking* We only get one vote, right? *Thinking some more* Okay, A Little Touch Of Harry In The Night gets my vote. There is so much going on there I can read it over and over again. The strange relationship between the trio, bastard!Harry, subtle Snape, manipulation and betrayal… oh, and that little bitch Draco being put in his proper place always make me happy.

Can I just go off on a tangent for a few minutes and talk about how much I love [livejournal.com profile] amanuensis1's writing? She knows this, but I feel a need to shout it from the rooftops today, LOL. And due to the restraining order, I'm forced to use venues like this to express my love now. ;) It's not any one of her stories that's makes her my favorite. It is just her whole body of work. Reading her fiction inspires me to want to write, and not many things I've read in my life have ever done that. It's like she crawls into my head and pulls out the images there and sets them to paper. And just the style of her writing -- the pace and the flow of it -- it would be my voice if I could express it. *sigh*

Ok... a vote. I requested this and am not sure I can do it. Do I pick 'And Just Plain Wrong' for the sheer balls it took to write it and how disturbing it was to be manipulated into actually enjoying watching Harry's torture and being torn between wanting it to continue and his gaining freedom? Or do I pick 'A Spell To Change Tigers To Butter' because of not only the ingenious name alone, but also because it pushed all my buttons by making Harry both victim and victor and such a sly little manipulator? Or maybe 'The Worst Happiest Day of His Life' just because it made me laugh so hard. (The image of the Lucius Malfoy downstairs listening in and being both horrified and getting turned on just cracks me up the most.) Or maybe 'A Bit of a Harry/Padfoot Fetish' just because it's a dirty kink of mine and ummm... guh. yeah. (have read that one many times. alone. at night.) Or I could pick 'God Slash Us, Everyone' because it was just brilliant and made me squee so hard. And oh, don't forget 'Droit Du Seignor', the story that made me fall in love with evil!Lucius. And 'One Piece of Parchment' or 'No Happy Memories' or 'A Moment in Correspondence'... because they bring me right to the verge of sobbing out loud when I read them.

I'm very very tempted to pick the Christmas Tree/Menorah slash. Just because. *evil grin*

So.... da da dum (drumroll)... after all that melodrama, I'm going to pick my mostest favoritest thing she's ever written. The short little Lucius/Harry drabbled called 'Short Stories (http://www.amanuensis1.com/shortstories.html)' because it's brilliant and perfect and wicked and twisted and I love it to pieces. How can she possibly tell such a complete story in so few words? I was literally jealous of it when I read it. And she put these evil little plot twist in my brain now, so that I'll never be able to read canon again without thinking of them.

Have I proven myself worthy of #1 fan status yet?
I have no ego. Take it.

I have to agree with you on that write-in and thank you for a fic I've overlooked. Let's lobby Aman for a less bland title, because this one deserves more attention.

"And Just Plain Wrong", because, even though the subject drives you almost to the point of hitting the 'back' button, the writing and the depth of it just keep you sucked in.

A toss up between A Little Touch Of Harry In the Night and A Spell to Turn Tigers to Butter. I loved the characterization of Brutal!Harry in the first and Surviving!Harry in the second, especially as we're not given any insight into Harry's perspective at all. It makes it so much stronger. But I have a huge weakness for Shakespeare.

I loved the romance and the deep affection contrasted with the horror and abuse. HArry loves Sirius in spite of everything, Harry loves Lucius, Lucius loves Harry in spite of everything - it made me melt.

There's not a single fic in the list I didn't like (although a few have given me nightmares, as great fics sometimes do!), but this sweet love story was the one I loved most.

Again, so many great stories to choose from.

But I'm going to have to give a write-in vote for Other Chambers, Darker Secrets (http://www.amanuensis1.com/otherchambers.html).

As with Just Plain Wrong, the abusers use their victims' feelings for their fellows against them. But in Other Chambers we get to see Ron and Hermione's private hells as well as Harry's.
