There's a story that wants to be written. It's pulling at me hungrily.

It's Lucius/Percy. It's slow-build. It's gentle and passionate, sweet and dishonest.

There's another story that I've promised myself I'd write this weekend. I've worked on the research for months. It's a struggle almost equal to the struggle to The Hat Trick.

Do I force it on SNAFU? Or write the Lucius/Percy?

I feel frazzled, and haven't gotten any writing done today. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. I have only ten days before a killer schedule kicks in. If I don't write SNAFU and work on Snape Manor in that time, it'll be June before I can touch it again.

My advice: Get the Lu/Per out of your system. Write a little of it, just enough to get the shape out, then hit SNAFU hard. (I could care less about Snape Manor. :)) When I was agonizing over my hprwfqf fic, I took a time-out to write a Filch-perspective one shot and squick myself. I found it helpful.

Or think of it this way. You can write the Lu/Per any day, but your fan base might kill you for SNAFU.

You know, that's actually heartening. Hey what did you decide to do about that Russian translation? Go for the BNF points or make sure the integrity of your work wasn't compromised?

The other way to look at it: have you decided to make your stories available to a neglected corner of the Harry Potter fandom, despite the possible slip in quality? Or have you decided to cut them out rather than feed them what might not be as good as your original? Have you decided to trust someone who loves your writing enough to offer the spend and incredible amount of time translating it, or slap them in the face and say, no, I don't think you're good enough for me?

For as long as I've been dying to read more in the Beg Me For It universe, the idea of Lucius and Percy in the flesh (as it were) also appeals.

Do what will work best for you. This is supposed to be something you do for fun. It shouldn't cause you so much angst.

Oh writing always causes me angst. Until it doesn't. Then it's nothing but glee. Until it causes me angst again. :D

I really want to do SNAFU, because when I finish that, well, the rest is done. So it's the final puzzle piece.

But then, this is one of your readers talking to you. The moment you mentioned 'sweet' and 'dishonest' in the same sentence, I had an embarrassingly... physical... reaction.

I think you and I need to come up with a safeword. Else I'll bully/beg you into writing fic, at any cost to your health. Coz d00d. Who needs food when there's fic to eat?
