icarus: Snape by mysterious artist (Percy Ficathon by Dien)

Wow. What a great night. Two terrific Percy fics, both satisfyingly long. I'm getting as spoiled as a fern (read this next fic to get that reference).

Third Party Loyalties Percy/Draco PG-13

[livejournal.com profile] mousapelli's written a story that speaks for itself. Draco, take it away:

"You can't buy that sort of stubborn ignorance. My father could ask you to send a ticking package from Vol D. Mort to A. Dumbledore and you wouldn't even blink."

Though Percy does get his shots in:

"What's your plan? Mind you, I'm only asking out of morbid curiosity."

I laughed my ass off throughout this entire story. Clever, witty, their sarcastic repartee makes the two fit together hand-in-glove. Complete with wonderful magical details!

It's only flaw was that even after three parts, I still wanted more.

Hi. Me again. We're hiring columnists, and I wanted to tell you in case you're interested. Here's the link: http://scarednakedmagazine.com/SNM/ic.html

Have a great day!

Kick ass. So we'd be looking at looking at six columns per year? What are the two column topics that have been selected?

What I usually write about is the art of writing, actually. That's what people ask me about in emails and chat, and all of my essays are about that. My creative writing teacher is using my essays for his class next year. He really likes them, says they're short, to the point, and tongue in cheek funny.

Oh, you'll be happy to know that the boys are cooperating in that fic at last. I really forgot about dad's gun collection.... >:D

Very good about the fic! The mag is quartely, so I think the editor is talking about two articles per year. I know, it's all very strange. I don't make these decisions. I know one of the columns is for movie reviews, and I think Nona and the editor are still discussing the other one, though it apparently seems likely to be "Sexy Cemetaries." I say play to your strengths. You're a very talented and knowledgable writer, and SNM will be lucky if you even pitch to them/us.

Cool. I'm putting together my proposal today. Any tips on what I should include? A one-page sample of an article I've written in the past?

I have a question about story length. I just finished my first draft of Keego Harbor last night, and it's about 6,000 words. Is that too long for Scared Naked? The first half of that has a lot of build-up and characterisation since I'm not working with fandom characters everyone knows.

I really appreciate your pointing this out to me -- this is a wonderful opportunity. :D

Hi. Sorry! I've been on vacation. We usually take fiction to 5K, but my boss has never been known to actually do a word count. As long as you don't mention the word count, I don't think anyone will notice.

As for your proposal, a clip of past work is always a good idea. I really hope you get it. I can't think of a more deserving author. :)

Um. Keego Harbor's about 30k. If saved as a txt file. Um, a 15-pagee fic for a 35-page mag? *clears throat* So I'm a little used to the fanfic world where length is no object.

I wrote a shorter D/S piece that's not nearly as involved and it's been sent to [livejournal.com profile] cursive. Should have it by Sunday. Thank you!

Now. What to do with Keego Harbor...? I'm looking all over hell for those links you gave me on the gentler mags. They must have been posted in somebody else's journal.

Well, I see you already found them. Sorry I'm so useless! Meanwhile, if you ever need them again or whatever, you can always IM or email me and I will get you the links. I so hope that you apply for a columnist position at SNM. I will put my vote in for you for sure. You should write about writing, if you'd like to. Minimal work and your name in the masthead. Wow! I wish I could read the boys in the rain story. I hope you find a good home for it! You put so much work into it, too! If I can find any good leads I'll pass them along.

Have a great day!
