Percy Ficathon Site

Thanks to
and_love and
switchknife, it seems we're actually going to have a Percy Ficathon Website.
Well.
I'll be darned.
Wow.
I threw together a temporary front page, not too bad for someone who barely knows HTML. But we'll get something nicer soon, I promise.
Er. Anyone a designer? Or wants to code stories? Or knows how I would set up a searchable archive?
Just a few little things.

Oh, I'm so excited. I've wanted to see a Percy fanfiction site since I discovered Perfect was no longer being updated.

Date: 2004-04-19 01:35 am (UTC)As far as design, let's see...
- Simple, quick-loading (I'm on a dial-up which should say it all).
- No frames as mentioned above.
- Oh, dignified sounds so good.
- Percy is quite neat so we want it fairly clean with not a lot of "fussy" graphics and background and so forth. As tidy as Percy's desk.
- Clear, legible font (and not gaudy like I have there). Percy has very neat lettering and is quite proud of it.
- Percy's efficient, so we want it simple and easy to follow.
- I've been asked to give word-counts.
Am I getting greedy? Over enthused?

Date: 2004-04-19 12:54 pm (UTC)Good, actually if you could send the coded version of your fic to dinkbird@earthlink.net, we can use it as our test story.
I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait...

Date: 2004-04-19 10:54 am (UTC)About searchable archives--I don't do much coding, but I recently made my recs site searchable by using Google's own code, like Harry Potter Lexicon does. You know?
Anyway, go to my search page here (http://aeristerra.com/switchknife/search.htm), right-click it and go to 'view source'. In the source code, skip to the part which says 'Search Google'; there's a block of code after that that you can just copy into your own search.htm file, by changing my site address for yours, and by just taking out the phrase 'recommendations'. You can also take out the IMG SRC tag if you don't want a Google logo on your page, the way it's there on mine. :) You can change all the color codes (e.g. #CC3300) with whatever colors you like, but they aren't crucial. All you really have to do is swap my site address for yours within the 'Search Google' tags, and that's it.
That's it! I'm so happy that you have a site for the Ficathon!
GAH! That is to say, your search.htm file should contain:
Date: 2004-04-19 10:58 am (UTC)<!-- Search Google -->
<form method=GET action=http://www.google.com/custom>
<table BORDER=0 CELLSPACING=0>
<tr VALIGN=TOP>
<td valign="middle">
<input TYPE=text name=q size=31 maxlength=255 value="Enter search phrase here...">
<input type=submit name=sa VALUE="Google Search"> <input type=hidden name=cof
VALUE="GALT:#4E443B;S:http://www.percyfest.muse-wanted.com/;VLC:#CC3300;AH:left;BGC:#FEF5ED;LH:83;L:;LC:#CC3300;GFNT:#4E443B;ALC:#CC3300;BIMG:;LW:800;T:#4E443B;GIMP:#4E443B;AWFID:;">
<input type=hidden name=domains value="www.percyfest.muse-wanted.com"><BR>
<font size="2">
<input type=radio name=sitesearch value="www.percyfest.muse-wanted.com" checked> Search the Percy Ficathon</font>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</form>
So.
