Unlocking Door PG-13 Percy, Snape Gen
thetreacletart has written a gently powerful story about - gah. How do you explain this?
There are so many layers, but I'd say the central core is Percy's transformation from who he is in the beginning of the story, to who he is by the end. But what brings about that transformation, what he experiences, takes you to hell and back -- all in this soft observant voice -- without ever leaving the Ministry. Truly overwhelming, this story is bordering on the profound, with observations that'll stay with you a while. The ending is as comforting as a warm cup of cocoa. *Icarus staggers away... I'm starting to feel intimidated by the talent in this ficathon, intimidated and awed.*

Date: 2004-04-23 12:30 pm (UTC)I'd never written Percy before and was *terrified* about doing it in such an open forum, full many writers that I've admired in the past. It is a relief to know that I didn't royally screw it up as I feared I would. :o)
Thanks again.

Date: 2004-04-23 03:46 pm (UTC)I've now learned that it's one of the pleasures of hosting a challenge that you get to read a cross-section of so many writers, get to know their style (or at least one of their styles) and get a snapshot of what's out there beyond the Draco Trilogy and the Tea Series.
