I've done drabbles, mostly the Ron/Percy drabble series 'Not My Affair' and worked on 'Sex, Drugs and Death Eater Rock' (which really is just long; it's taken so much out of me because it hasn't gone well). Everything seems so quiet right now.

Plebedom
Odd. I received a note out of the blue to join a new Snape/Harry Mailing list. Usually when I'm invited to things, there's a mention of some particular story that gives me a feel for what the list is all about. It felt 'spammy.'

I checked out the list, and it was - hey! Helen Pluck! My pal. (We're both major Rushlight fans). And Cassiopeia. Hmm. Where have I seen that name before -? Then I saw [livejournal.com profile] cybele_san's journal, discussing the... oh, yeah.
I remember seeing that on [livejournal.com profile] obscurus's journal, and I'm sorry Obscurus is taking a break.

So the irate Cassiopeia is creating her own list?

I agree, Cybele. I'm just out of Plebedom myself, and I'm fortunate enough to have done my first 'plebe-ly' stories as an adult. If you guys had seen the Andre Norton Mary Sue I created when I was thirteen. *shudders*

Here's a contest. Remember when you were a Plebe? What is the worst, most ridiculous story you've ever written?

Have a laugh at my expense.

I confess, my sci-fi creation had genetic experiments done on her (of course her), and the story started with her escaping from the lab. Yes, friends, she had cat's eyes and could see in the dark, Plus! She had retractable claws under her fingernails. Gosh, did I like cats? Maybe the 83 stuffed kitties and the litter of kittens under my bed was a clue. It was action packed! If somewhat... vague... as to why anyone would genetically alter her, or what was going to happen once she escaped. I showed it to my stepdad who said "Er. Well. It's action-packed..." I knew I was damned with faint praise, reread it, and tossed it in the trash.

I had another effort when I was fifteen, and I got to 58 pages before I finally admitted there wasn't an original thought in the entire story, I didn't care about the characters, once again didn't know where the story was headed and I admitted... I'd never read this. I forcing out 'a fantasy story' rather than writing something I enjoyed.

Thank god there was no internet for me to humiliate myself and post these things. Or I would have.

The heat's out in my building again. There are puddles on the windowsill where condensation has run down the glass. And kitty has cold ears.

Hehe....I think I'm still a pleb!...*Grins*...I'm proud of my plebby-ness...It means I don't take myself too seriously...

Anyway...My first fic was a true work of plebdom...Was a total Mary-Sue...NC-17 (And I've never been able to write smut well!)...And...Urgh, it was just bad!....I can't believe some people actually reviewed it!

Yeah, we'll review anything won't we?

You know, the Harry Potter fandom is really good about giving reviews. The Tolkien folks just don't give a rats ass. ;)

I'm so grateful I never published that story. Forget naked baby pictures, that would have been the worst.

I'm just glad that ff.net took down all its NC-17 stuff...Otherwise it would still be up, as a reminder to myself that I am always improving!

still cold in Seattle?
We still have frosty-ish nights down here; more so in Eastern Oregon. Is it the law to turn off the heat in your building after a certain amount of time (some places do this.)
And the drabbles are fun!

It's chilly. There's no real fall or spring here you know, just summer and winter slowing fading into each other. It's warm enough to wear fleece jackets, cold enough to have you ears feel a little nippy. We had hail a few days ago. And more rain. Of course.

I moved here from Washington DC. In DC it's probably 65 degrees and balmy. The humidity hasn't started yet, and the insects are just starting to wake.

It's a Yahoo Group called hpotter_ssnape. (groups.yahoo.com/group/hpotter_ssnape) I'm kind of uncomfortable with it, because it seems to have been formed just because someone was mad at [livejournal.com profile] obscurus, although I'm all for new HP groups. (And there can't be too much Snape.) I like Obscurus, and understand it's tough to have to make tough calls on a group, especially one so large.

I probably messed up the address, I was typing it from memory. It's http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hpotter-ssnape.

Let me know if that worked.
