Oh, my God. I'm putting this in my memories because it's brilliant. Secondly, hell, I wish I could pay you to critique some of my fics so I can figure out exactly how to tighten up. Thirdly, I wanted to let you know that next week is Fic Rec week at the Dirty Limerick Haven, and I'm going to be recommending something of yours. I'm trying to spread out what I rec of yours so that I don't appear to be a shrieking fangirl, but there you go. Anyway, I will let you know when the limerick and link appear. Thanks very much for your continued efforts to write brilliant fic and to assist others in their own quest to do the same.

That's a very useful survival kit. I'm a discerning reader of slash (I hope), mostly HP and LotR. However, I've become more interested in writing now, and I find it quite difficult. This is mostly because I read the best stories, and find I can't live up to that, because I can't write magic well, or get tied up in the smuttier scenes. The suggestions here are most useful, and you have done me and I suspect many others a great service.

I read the essay on beta reading and now I know what to do if I ever volunteer to do that. I haven't offered to beta read for anyone yet because I didn't know what to do. And if I ever get around to write anything longer than 4 page one-shots, maybe I will even try to find my own.
